Hello!

I filed an I-751 over a year ago without approval yet. I am looking to book an InfoPass appointment to get the extension stamp at my local office (Washington DC) however it is impossible to get an appointment there right now and I have been trying for a while.

My question is, do I need to go to my local office or can I go to another? There are always appointments at the Norfolk, VA office around 4 hours south of DC. Can I just go there?

Thanks in advance!

Jason

Did you try to do a walk-in at your local office? Maybe you can explain them there is not appointment available in their system. Or you can try to make the Infopass in another office.

Did you check the infopass after midnight? I had to wait pass midnight to be able to book an infopass appointment. The last time I went there in May they refused to give the stamp and I was told to come back a month before my green card expires. I didn't receive the 18 month extension letter yet. Let's see.......

Thanks for your reply. That's good to know about the month before expiration rule. I have not checked after midnight, I have just been planning for when I do need an appointment. I still have not got my extension letter either :(

I know some people were able to obtain the stamp but I was rejected. I don't want to discourage you from trying. Have you guys applied for citizenship yet?

Hi!

I was in a similar situation. We are in the DC metro area as well. I was staying up to check for appointments at midnight, as suggested above, with no luck. One morning I decided to check around 8 am and there were some slots available. I just came back from my appointment.

I asked if one could just walk-in if there were no appointments available. The officer said that if your extension is expiring within a month you can give it a shot, and they might squeeze you in. I suggest you check at different times of the day for an appointment, and if you want to try walking-in, arrive at 7 am.

BTW, I was under the impression that I would have to trade in my green card for the stamp, but I got the expired card back.

Good luck!

When does your extension letter expire and if you received the new 18 month one?

The letter expires October 1st. I did not receive the 18 month extension letter, nor the courtesy copy.

Awesome. Thanks for your insight. I am not fretting yet :) Mine expires at the beginning of January 2019.

Don't know how the timing of open slots work.. but we kept looking around midnight/early mornings as many were suggesting but without success. Then one day sitting in front of the pc I poked around, and lo and behold, we found a handful of open slots around 2:30pm. So we booked one for an appointment a couple of weeks later. Wonder if there is a method to the madness..
