Physical presence

I have us citizenship interview coming up and have a question regarding the travel.

I have one trip of 176 days before n400 application and one after I applied for 176 days.

Is this gonna effect us citizenship.

Do I have to show physical presence. I did not lease but sharing room while in US during the absence.

I was not working either. What kind of physical presence evidence I need to obtain if they ask.

I wish I'd kept track of mine over the years!  I couldn't even rely on passport stamps when it came time for my N400 since I've never had my current or expired passports stamped---ever.  Quite common for Canadians, but it slightly stressed me out when it came time for filing...all of my dates were estimated to the best of my recollection.

how do you calculate days outside us. Do you count the partial day in US

They already have a record of your US arrivals and departures.....

No.  Entry and exit days are not counted by the IO.  Even if you were in the US only a couple of hours before a departing flight, it counts as a full 24 hours presence on US soil.

On the flip side, let's say on your returning flight to the US, you touchdown at 11:00pm....it would still count as a "full day" on US soil for the purposes of the N400.

I've wondered about this as well. I've seen cases where a denial for the N-400 stated explicitly the dates outside the US and the number of days. They typically listed both the inclusive (counting departing + returning dates) and exclusive (excluding those dates) in their totals, which makes me wonder if even they don't have a firm policy on how to handle those dates.

I agree it should include the full days, but the denials I have seen make me doubt myself sometimes. haha

I took the printed page regarding the exit/entry dates from their own IO policy manual incase I had to show them during my interview lol

Specifically THIS part:

A. Physical Presence Requirement

An applicant for naturalization is generally required to have been physically present in the United States for at least half the time for which his or her continuous residence is required. Applicants for naturalization under INA 316(a) are required to demonstrate physical presence in the United States for at least 30 months (at least 913 days) before filing the application. [1]

Physical presence refers to the number of days the applicant must physically be present in the United States during the statutory period up to the date of filing for naturalization. The continuous residence [2] and physical presence requirements are interrelated but each must be satisfied for naturalization.

USCIS will count the day that an applicant departs from the United States and the day he or she returns as days of physical presence within the United States for naturalization purposes. [3]

When you fill out the N400 application online it automatically calculates the number of days according to the dates you enter. It doesn't count the first day and the last day that you enter in the count for the number of days you were outside the US.

I have had two trips close to 176 days? Almost 6 months or 180 days but not over 180 days. Will IO ask for ties to US?

One trip is Dec2016 to May 2017 before n400 application (I applied n400 in sep 2017). I have interview scheduled and coming up. I had another trip after n400 application (dec 2017 to may 2018 (176 days). Will this be any problem for continuous residence.

My physical presence during 5 year after green card before n400 application is 385 days After n400 application (it is an year for interview) is +175 days 560 days during 6 year period. Please let me know the consequences or Does IO will ask ties to US during absence. How do I tackle this

No, my days outside US is 385 days (including all trips to India)

For clarification's sake, would you be able to break down and list all your trips instead of lumping them together?
