And Nike stocks are up. http://time.com/5390884/nike-sales-go-up-kaepernick-ad/

Nike is laughing all the way to the back at these dumb people who are cutting their socks and shorts up and burning their shoes. They don't care about you Becky they still got their money.

Also the second biggest buyers of Nike is China and I don't think they care and they will still be buying Nike so it's not a loss for them even if Conservatives stop buying Nike (Which will only last for a few months and than they'll go back to buying Nike)

Pat Tillman's wife and friends have repeatedly said that Pat Tillman would have been on Kap's side

A veteran suggested that Colin knee instead of sit but no one mentions that because?

I was reading some FB comments about CK.  Some good stuff, both for and against CK.  Target stood their ground, and lost big during the bathroom debacle.  Nike stock took a hit, but we all know that is a good time to buy, and it could rally back quickly enough, and end up being a win for them.  Heck, with the backing of Nike behind him, there may well be enough money to do some good hard looking into police brutality (though I wonder why CK is only concerned about it being directed towards blacks, when clearly more white males are killed by cops than black ones?).  Hopefully, some good will come of this whole thing.  OTWT

But in reading the comments, I came across this one, and it really struck home.  People like to throw the R-word around like chocolate candy these days, until it has lost much of its meaning.  But is America, as a whole, really all that racist?  I think not.  I have visited and lived in other countries that make our “racism” look like kids arguing over who has the coolest pet.  But this comment from a South African person really made me appreciate an outsider’s view of the US:

They really didn't. Nike stock is at an all time high, and overall sales are up as well. Some people have stopped buying Nike, others have switched to supporting their products.

For all the people who had trouble understanding the business and marketing decisions behind this, perhaps give Nike some credit. It's quite possible they did their research and analysis without the visceral emotion driven reactions we see on the internet, and maybe decided there was more to gain than lose with this campaign.

You may be right about Nike , sadly enough. both he and Kapernick     exploiting the ongoing problems with young black men in American to sell  overpriced shoes made by virtual slave labor in the 3rd world

As for Kaepernick he is a half black man, who was raised by white people after his birth father got his mom pregnant and ran out on her. He was raised in a white world and know about as much about the plight of poor blacks in this country as I do about advanced chaos theory . Yet somehow he thought giving the middle finger to everything decent this country stands for would be a great idea.

He had already expressed an interest in leaving San Francisco, before he opted out of his contract renewal. No other team wanted him,  because frankly he is erratic and inconsistent. The NFL much like nike is about Money, and if he could bring wins I assure you he would be signed, to somehow suggest he sacrificed anything is insulting. Most people dont even know what he is protesting.

He has made millions off of this by exploiting his half blackness and addressing something in a world he knows nothing about. I think back in the day he would be called a sellout, and Nike should be ashamed of themselves for exploiting the problems in the black community to sell over priced shoes to poor black kids, for status symbols . Every African American in the country should boycott Nike

Half White man and one of the largest corporation in the world, run by white men, exploiting the epidemic of violence, apathy, family breakdown, crime and incarceration of young black men in this country,  to make billions selling grossly over priced shoes to the same demographic it is exploiting,to make billions,. How gangster is that.

Once the black community figures out how bad it has been had, they will be blaming it on the CIA... AKA crack epidemic of the 90's.

You just summed up the whole situation quite nicely, NB.  I am impressed at how succinctly and accurately you did it.  Not everyone will see it this way, of course, but at least you put it out there for folks to ponder.

It's still a problem for cops to shot black men and can't be denied. When blacks kill blacks it's usually gang crime. So how are people gonna compare gang crime to cops? Cops should be held to a higher standard. You can't compare gang crime to cops killing innocent people. Like cops are suppose to be trained no? Gangs aren't trained in anything so it's ridiculous to even compare the two really. Just like when that officer shot that women from Australia. It was ridiculous and shows cops grab the gun and shot way too fast. Just like the cop who shot a man in his own apartment.

I don't get why people are upset. It's his right to protest whenever and however he likes. It's Free Speech the same thing the right claims that the left is trying to take away from them. It's ridiculous that they want to be up in arms about it when it's HIS right. An Army veteran is the one who even recommended that Colin kneel. A ARMY VETERAN.

More power to him really.

Cops shoot more whites than blacks, but the pool of potential targets (whites) is larger also

What are the numbers of blacks being killed who are acting in a benign manner, listening to the instructions of the officer, not advancing with a potential weapon, not feverishly running away? If it's these being killed I agree the cops are over-reacting, but it's not. The guy in Dallas killed in his own apartment - suspect, if it happened that way, I hope she fries.

If Kap is true to his values he would not rep for Nike, they exploit young women in 3rd world countries with slave wages and abhorrent work conditions, so it's ok to exploit them but he takes offense here? Can't be both ways.

Im not talking about the whole Nike thing because I despise the sweat shops and how they make women work but just in general of the whole protesting. I feel like it's his right to protest whatever he wants. However he likes. It's his right. If he wants to kneel for something he feels is injustice than he should and can do it because that's the beauty of America.

i mean I've seen people boycott and protest irrelevant things but they can still do it.
