Republicans, Save Your Party by Impeaching the President

As news spread that Michael Cohen’s plea deal had all but named President Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator in a federal crime, I thought back to a conversation I had earlier this summer in South Carolina.

A woman approached me at the end of our Need to Impeach Town Hall in Columbia, where I’d discussed the threat Donald Trump poses to our democracy. At 52, she was a lifelong Republican, but she couldn’t understand why her party’s elected leaders wouldn’t stand up to Mr. Trump.

“We’re under attack by our own president,” she told me. 

She’s far from the only GOP supporter who feels this way. More than 500,000 people who have added their voices to our call to impeach Mr. Trump and ultimately remove him from office identify as Republicans. When I meet these voters at our Town Hall events, they often tell me how disgusted they feel watching Mr. Trump trample their party’s core beliefs as he erodes the foundations of our country. 

The GOP, as they’ve told me, has always emphasized that America must be a nation of laws. At the 2016 Republican National Convention, party leaders agreed on a platform asserting that “the rule of law is the foundation of our Republic.” Yet Mr. Trump has been dismantling the rule of law to try to protect himself. 

He has repeatedly tried to hamper special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 elections. He bragged that he fired James Comey in an effort to end that investigation, signaled that he may pardon allies caught in the probe, and has even claimed he has an “absolute right” to pardon himself. His legal team has justified this by claiming that he is effectively above the law—a gravely worrying stance given the new allegations of criminal behavior made by his former personal lawyer.

Many Rhinos, example Paul Ryan, are like rats. They run from the Trump ship when they think its sinking and  then run back on when they figure out its not

No doubt.  On the other hand, I wonder how happy the DNC is that Steyer is out there pushing hard for impeachment prior to the November elections.  Between Steyer and the usual actors in the Left Wing media, I think the message is getting out loud and clear.

Its going to get out the Repub vote big. They always underestimate it hugely . A lot of Repub voters sat out the primary but are going to come out in droves for the General. Me included.

 

I could care less which Repub in Georgia got the nomination, but I care strongly that a race baiting, anti gun, poverty pimp who is up her eyeballs in Unpaid Taxes, Student loans and credit card debit does not get elected .

It is always funny when someone politically opposite suggests ways to help a political party they would rather see disappear.

Regarding the midterms, I really wonder whether the Trump supporters will turn out in enough droves to counteract the genuine lunatics.

If the lunatics fail at flipping Congress, will they riot?

They will appoint a special prosecutor to start a never ending investigation into Russian collusion for every congressional race they lose.

 

As far as impeachment goes some democrats are even backing off that now because they realize it's a losing issue.

The politicians apart from Mad Maxine may be backing off it, but the leftist media is pushing it full force since the Cohen plea.

Hard to say.  I know I have talked with quite a few people around here and most of them are planning on voting and tend to lean GOP/Right.  I myself voted in my first primary in many many years.  I am like @Nature Boy Flair, I generally don't care too much about the primaries, but I always vote in the general.  I decided to vote in this one not because of any candidate, but because this was Katya's first opportunity to exercise her right to vote as an American citizen.  I can also see the same possibility that @jg121783 suggested, with the DNC claiming the blue wave is coming, if it doesn't materialize, the media and DNC leaders will ramp up the Russian narrative to this election (Rule #8:   keep the pressure on.).

Same here. We need to stop the blue trickle that is really a yellow trickle on America if you know what I mean.
