Hi all,

My spouse and I are in the middle of Adjustment of Status from Tourist, as we got married 2 months ago.

I got my biometrics done today at ASC, so I was just wondering what comes next? (We've got the NOAs for the I-130, 485, 765, and 131)

Any feedback or experience you guys might have will be helpful. Thank you guys in advance!

You wait...and wait.... and wait !!

The EAD and  AP should take 5 months to process, the AOS up to 18 months..

I-765/I-131 approval and the physical combination card should be anywhere within 5-8 months.

After that, a long uncertain wait in which your application whirls through the mysterious unknowable wormhole known as "USCIS". At an unknown point in the future, your application will surface out of the wormhole but with an interview date. After which, the final decision of the application will be decided.

Very elegant,  more wordsmithed way of saying "you wait" .. I like it 😁

So, does that mean I can't apply for a bank account and a driver's license just yet? because the SSN comes with the EAD, right?

Gah. This uncertainty is frustrating hahaha.

SSN application is not associated with the EAD , but you need proof of legal presence I the US to apply for a SSN.. which is why it is recommended to apply for the SSN before the I94 expires.. otherwise you have to wait until you have the EAD to have th e required proof,

You can get a bank account as a non resident alien without a SSN... Some banks don't under stand this, so shop around.

Drivers licences are state based so it varies in what residency documents they new,.  Some will accept the NOA1 for the AOS

Oooh well, the I94 expired in July, sooooo yeah. I guess I'll have to wait.

Depends on your bank. I opened a Wells Fargo account when I was on F1 student status (no SSN or any American ID at the time). They accepted my Canadian passport as ID. I'd say to go ask them. As for driver's license, I believe you need to wait for the EAD. Some DMV's MAY accept the receipt notice as proof of legal presence. You'd have to go and ask as well about that.

Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview

"As of June 13, 2018, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."

So, the question is, What does it mean? And what next?
I dont get the notice yet till now. 😢

I'm a tourist married to USC. I came to the US with B2. I had no plan to married him, but it just happened after I'm in the US.

That notification doesn't mean that much. Your wait time can be short (a few weeks) or long (months, even a year). That notification just means your case is in the line to be scheduled. What matters is when you get the notification that says, "Your interview has been scheduled." There is no way to predict or know how long your wait time will be. Don't bother calling USCIS. They will just tell you to wait. Also, please start your own thread instead of posting in somebody else's thread.

Hey @KPL.  We also filed through San Diego!  EAD and AP are currently taking around 5 months - if you requested an SSN on the I-765, that should follow about a week after the EAD.  Interviews flowing pretty smoothly through the office so you may find an interview date for around 6/7 months after filing.  If you haven't already, join the thread for the month you filed, i.e. June 2018 AOS Filers.  You should find a lot of people in the same position as you and it really helps!  Let me know if you have any more questions!  Good luck to you and your spouse :).
