Hi @Greenbaum

Just out of curiosity to call and get our Case number do we need the receipt number on the hard copy of our NOA2?

My US fiance is away atm (for another 3.5 weeks) and there's no way he can check the mail to get it.

Can he have it faxed to him?

Thanks for all your help and advice so far!

The receipt number on my NOA1 and NOA2 are the same so it should be the same receipt name I think.   That is the receipt number you need. Its also the same one they email me when they received the petition.

Thank you so much!!

Good to know!

Is there anything we need from the NOA2 hardcopy?

Or could he just scan it and email it to me when he gets back so I have a copy of it with me at my interview?

You welcome!  To call the NVC you only need the receipt number. Once they receive it you will need your full name and your fiance's full name along with both of your full date of births.    @Greenbaum  posted this detailed information below:

First, don't begin calling for 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). Second, you will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.

Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

My NOA2 is dated 8/8/18, so I guess I belong to this group. My Case Tracker Ap only shows that my packet was received back in early February. Also, I can't seem to click on check status at USCIS.com. Is anyone else having trouble?

Hello everybody!

I have a question about calling to the NVC to get your casenumber. My fiancee (petitioner) an I are currently living in The Netherlands so I was wondering if his parents can call to the NVC to get our casenumber? Calling to The States from NL is really pricey and especially if they will put you on hold for a little bit.

If you have a US-based Gmail account, you can use Google Hangouts to call US numbers for free :)

The old case tracking website is no longer being updated, and as that is the source for the tracker apps, those are now defunct also. The new site is http://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov and requires registration, but should show you the current status of your case at USCIS. (Although after the NOA2, nothing changes, so it's not really important.) Once you have your NVC# you can track it on CEAC until it gets to the embassy.

Yes, you need the receipt number from your NOA2 to call and get your case number. I don't know if it's listed anywhere in a digital copy, but if not you will need to get ahold of the number from the hard copy. Is there no one that could check the mail for him?

@Adrii, you do not need the NOA2 at this point. The receipt number is the same you have since NOA1, WACXXXXXXX.

Whenever he gets back from his training, it's sufficient for him to send you a scan of the NOA2.
