How common is it to get a RFIE/RFE a second time?

I received a RFIE for Birth Certificate with English Translation and the RFIE always has all the documents they need before they can move further right? Only document listed in there was my BC. The RFIE also has the acronym RFE in it.

What are the chances I will get a second RFIE/RFE a second time for a another document required?

RD: 10/4/17 for I-485 Supplement A and I-765.

Biometrics completed: 11/06/17.

RFIE: 4/30/18 for I-485.

An RFE can be issued at any point prior to approval. Typically they issue an RFE or RFIE asking for everything they need, but it’s always possible they notice something later.

Less chance of getting a RFIE/RFE second time right?

Probably...most people do tend to just get one. Some notable exceptions are those who get one after the interview (i.e. if a new document is needed, the medical expired, etc.).

My other concern is the Medical I-693. There are few dates in there and latest date was 6/16/17 which means it’s been over a year.

Does it guarantee another RFIE to take the exam again and pay the doctors fees?

No, not a guarantee. If one is needed, they will request it. Typically they ask for it for the interview.

Not “no doubt”...the IO has discretion to send another RFE for the same requirement. Generally they would do so if they believe the evidence is available and can be provided. Others have received a denial after failing to respond to the RFE satisfactorily.

An RFE for a different requirement would generally be issued before any denial or even a NOID.

Yes, the spouse (USC) did not meet the poverty guideline so they received a first RFE for I-864. They sent as a response with bank statements from a bank account overseas from an inheritance that put them well above the poverty guideline, but they were recently sent another RFE for the same I-864.

How can I know for sure I will need to do the medical exam before the interview day?

I rather not have the interviewer tell me to do the medical exam again when I could have gotten approved on interview day. This could delay my approval for days or even weeks.

Mine was about my Birth Certificate with English translation.

The interview letter will state if they want you to bring the medical, although some people have received this and were not asked for a new medical anyway. Only way to be 100% sure is if the medical is not expired (> 1 year old) at the time of adjudication. Typically, with non-K-1 filers, they want the medical to be valid at the time of adjudication.

USCIS had my I-693 though and I have a copy and it has been over a year. Bring expired copy to the interview? What do you mean some people have received this?  My I-693 was in June of 2017 so it has already expired right? I am a F1 Preference filer (unmarried adult 21+ Son), USC mother petitioner, I-130 Approved.
