@Chloraflora if you mean expediting your US passport in like 24 hours? Good luck. You need to send in your naturalization certificate (original one) to get your first passport. I am not sure that the passport will be issued in less than 10 days, as it was for me. Same day, i don't think so.

I know you can make an appointment at a passport agency and get one within 2 days if you have upcoming travel plans. I'm hoping they can make that 2 days into 1 day but... yeah. Probably going to have to ask to reschedule my oath -_-

This kinda related and not to the passport issue. For those dual nationals here. I have 2 citizenships, since my birth country allows it. I also have Global entry. They have both of my passports on file at USCIS and/or CBP. I was told years ago I can use both for entry into the US, since i am a naturalized citizen. I have never attempted this. The US passport is biometric, the other one is not.  If you where to loose your US passport, you could technically enter the US with your other travel document as I understood this. How you get into that US bound plane, is another matter. Good luck and hope this is something of use to other readers.

The law says that U.S. citizens must exit the United States on a U.S. passport, but you'd be able to leave the US with your UK passport and your naturalization certificate if you'd want to because there's no passport control at exit. Once in the UK you can apply for a US passport at a US consulate in the UK before you return to the US. However, it is more advisable to postpone the trip if possible.

Reschedule the vacation. IMO, oath ceremony takes priority.

I can't agree with that. I can take an extra few months waiting for my oath, but I haven't seen my family in two years and frankly that's more important to me.

One day service is for life or death situations. Do you have a death certificate, statement from a mortuary or hospital as they say on the state dept website?

Reschedule the oath.

Not true.

I got a one day passport in Chicago when my former one was rejected for water damage (Airline wouldn't let me board). All it took was the app, the photo, copy of my itinerary and a lot of running between offices downtown starting at 9am and ending just past 2pm.

So you got yours literally same day? That gives me some hope, thank you <3

Yes, and the reason was a vacation, not a death or anything.  Good Luck

Yours was for a damaged passport, not a new citizenship passport. I would bet a one day passport would not be possible in this case. We all have our priorities. Mine would be to get my citizenship and then travel. I hope OP will let us know how it turns out and the delay of citizenship if that is the chosen journey.

We were in the same situation when we did our naturalization, we talked with the officer and his advice was reschedule, which we did. Your citizenship is approved, nothing is going to change, just the amount of stress you will go through.

How long did you wait between your original oath date and your reschedule? I just don’t want it to be aaaaaaages.

They put us in a ceremony 6 days after we got back. Basically the first one they had after we got back.
