Has anyone used advance parole before? My husband and I are leaving the country for a few weeks and even though we have done everything correctly with getting advance parole and carrying proof of I-485 pending with us, I still get scared they won’t let my husband back in the country. 😭 He is from Mexico and I worry about the political attention that has been drawn to the border as of late.

Truly to make your time possibly easier at the CBP. Try to put these thoughts out of your head. Your husband has done nothing wrong and followed correct K-1 everything timeline, so no need to even ask. Mexcio is an important ally and NAFTA member.

I say this because the more focused and confident you are. More enjoyable the CBP experience is and assuming the more reasonable officer you get.

We got them for my wife and kids and it was no problem. We are frequent travelers to mexico.  So while we were waiting on our AOS we got adv parole

We were switching from a Visitor to a  Permanent and once we crossed into the USA we could not go back.  We got approval in early Dec and we filed for Adv Parole and got them the day after christmas.  Wife missed Christmas and new years in Tijuana.  Kids got theres first and wifes not until after New Years. But we used those for about 3-6 months to travel back and forth from the border.  It was easy and no problems coming back.

So true.

I find it disturbing how they treat my wife when I am not there.   When the travel with me (I am Gringo USA citizen)  I get anything from nothing to where are you going and do you have anything to declare?  When they travel alone they ask a lot of questions and their attitude is completely different.   Be confident. Make sure your I-94 is up to date.

Advance parole is an established procedure used 100s of times a day if not thousands. He will have to go to secondary processing, which could take awhile depending on how busy they are. Then they will ask him a few questions, maybe for 5 minutes maybe for 20 mins. Then they will let him back into the country. So he will be totally fine, enjoy the trip.

Did you end up using your AP?  If so, how did it go for you/your husband?  My husband just received his AP and we both really would love to be able to go back (we are really craving some tacos) but I am afraid of them not letting him back in.  They tell you over and over in the paperwork that re-entry is NOT guaranteed.... so I'm a little apprehensive.  I would love to wait for his green card, but god knows how long that will take. Any sharing of your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Yes we were able to use it and my husband was allowed back in, no problem!

I was a visa overstay and used my Advance Parole 7 seperate times with no issue. Had to go to secondary processing each time but was routine and all but one time were short waits.
