We still don't have our EAD and USCIS lied again when we called a week ago.  I have the information set up to contact my Congressman but I'm getting worried that USCIS will just give him a generic response and make us continue to wait.  We are now in month 8 of waiting.  After I contact the Congressman I think I will have to look into getting a lawyer.  So frustrating.  As far as the AOS interview, I have absolutely no hope that we will hear anything about that until at least a year has passed since we filed.  I don't know how so many other people already have their work permits when they filed at the same time or after us.   It doesn't make any sense.

Hi, I had my ead and waited over 6 months. As soon as it was over 6 month, I contacted the congressman right away.

If your case is over 8 months now, you should definitely call the congressman right now and tell him. I am sure he can help you. Or call the senate. But based on my experience , congressman is more helpful.

I would suggest call the congressman first and if he doesn’t help. Get a lawyer.

Good luck. Also you can start to look for jobs now. Don’t wait until your ead come. It takes time to look for a job.

Hey everyone!

We had our interview yesterday and we got a verbal approval! Woohoo!

We filed on June 1st of 2018 for AOS, started our process as a K1 back in June of 2017... A whopping 574 days. We were told that a green card will be mailed to us in two to three weeks. Online, our case status hasn't been updated yet.

Our interview was scheduled for 1:45 at the Seattle field office in Tukwila. We got there at around 1:20 and were finally called at 3:20. Interview was about 30 minutes with the standard I485 questions and how we met. We had a friend interpreting just in case and that was no issue either. Everyone was smiling on their way out of the office and the officers all seemed very friendly.

Let me know if I can answer any questions!

I’m NYC and only my EAD and AP took 180 days to be processed from June 14 priority date and June 19 acceptance. Our case has been ready to be scheduled for interview since November 2. The processing times for NYC are the most ridiculous. Good luck cause only luck will guide us in this wait 😪

forget about your marriage license, that had it's use and should be forgotten now.

The marriage certificate, should have your current legal name on it. Maria A. Baker

EAD should say: Maria A. Baker

The marriage certificate, with EAD and the passport all together, will let you travel abroad and let you back into the USA.

PS: You are confusing yourself with a marriage license, that had it's purpose and is no longer of use

your marriage certificate should have the same name as your EAD card. There is no discussion about that. What determines your legal name is the marriage certificate.

I am assuming that you took you now husbands name and went from Maria A. (unmarried name)------> to Maria A. Baker (married name)

this is what is confusing.....you applied USCIS? which form are you referring here to (I-485, I-765 or I-131) and/or are you referring to the marriage certificate?

Whatever it says in your marriage certificate, should say in your EAD also. The name on the passport is of no issue, until you renew it.

No. Just travel with your passport, Combo card and copy of marriage certificate and you should be fine. The combo card is like a ‘visa’ in this case and your marriage certificate clears the name discrepancy :) Safe trip ♥️

I’m with @Alabamak1. The marriage license is just to register the marriage and pay the fee, when they finish the ceremony at the courthouse, they give you the certificate. The certificate should have your former name and new name. Look this is the certificate in NYS, which they give you after the ceremony in the courthouse 👀

if  you can have the marriage certificate changed to Maria A Baker and keeping it w/o having to change it with USCIS.....that would be best.
