Shakespeare said something was rotten in Denmark. Debbiedoo says something is rotten in the Philippines.

None of this sounds right. none of this at all.

Please think with the head above your belt.

I didn't imply the child would be interviewed .. can't get a visa without attending the interview   and that applies to all.  ;)     They have interpreters ..

Just the same, make the effort, even if your fiancee brings them to a different location

ok.. so child does not need to be in her interview... but must be on the K2 interview ?

If she insist on me not to go to her city I will bring them to where she feel safe.. :D

You're missing the point entirely.  You want to meet her husband/live-in partner?  You have to go there to do that.  He won't come along to meet you elsewhere.  But you will do as you wish.  It is obvious here that you are not going to heed anyone's advice.  I wish you well.

If she has a husband/live-in partner, girlfriend or a closet thing.... it will be in Manila or somewhere close to Manila...  and I have been there 3 times., I kind of know/follow her life in Manila, where she lives for at least 5 years, work, friends, bosses, etc... the thing is, she is more afraid of her relatives city than I am, reason why I postponed so much going there. this is not a case of meet and marry, I know her for almost 2 years...

Now, If I have to be worried about that.. some of my Americans brothers chasing her is what I should be skeptical... :D

But what they say?.?.?..  Competition helps to induces growth...   :o:D

There is a unspoken rule in Philippines.  Americans don't mess with a girl if she is attached or in a courtship with another American.  She is off limits, and most if not all guys going to the Philippines know this and also they follow this.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Most.. but not all... but it is all cool... we are all looking for happiness.. let nature be natural... I will not force a partner to be with me if she is not happy. Never did and never will...

Kid (7 yo) and mother-in-law-to-be (XYZ yo) do not speak english, ur answer imply kid being in interview... is that correct and necessary ?

Her nanay(mother) may not but her child certainly knows more than she thinks he knows I can guarantee you that. All kids understand basic english unless they are Lumad or street kids

As I said before, I am not afraid to go to Marawi, her family is not from there, but close, and anyone one with military background knows that the terrorist are not where police and politics are watching, and the "the safe cities" around are they 'resident'...

I will will go there sooner or later, I have been in worse places, but she gets worried that interview gets scheduled before I have the opportunity to go there, and not meeting kid and mom becomes an issue

Former Marine here with Combat tours under my belt fyi. I was working overseas when I met my wife in Qatar, then I moved over to Afghanistan as contractor. But the first time I went to Mindanao I was really scared because my coworkers kept filling my head full of me being beheaded by Abu, they even had a over/under if I was going to come back at all.

Needless to say I love it there in Davao and I hate Manila.

Davao seems very western except for the general populace, very cosmopolitan city

Honestly I really love it there it has a nice feel to it and the crime is really really low. I have never really gone out to the clubs/bars there at night due to my asawa not letting me so I can't attest to that but I am sure that @Chris Duffy can say something about that. But we plan on either building or buying a house either in Panabo or Tagum City, we are really looking at Tagum because it's right in the middle of my wife's family pretty much due to her having a very very large family. There is a good mixture of everybody there and it is starting to build up/modernize so we want in.

Her family lives on a 'non so safe area', and she does not like the idea of me going there, we talk about the idea of bringing her son and mother to another less terrorist active area, but never put the idea in practice.

But the main reason I never went to see her family has something to do with the embassy issuing travel warnings/restrictions to the area where family members are.

I’ve been to Mindanao three times to visit my wife’s family, never once did I feel unsafe. If your talking the autonomous area then no it’s not safe, or southern islands of Mindanao. Most other places are very safe.

Ohhh I know and alot of people are liking that as well on the ground. The only people not liking it are the activists and the people from outside Mindanao
