May 2018 filers of I-130 for Parents

Hello everyone!

It seems like there isn't a May 2018 I-130 thread for U.S. Citizens applying for parents through consular processing. I will be sending mom's application 5/24/18, right after I leave my Naturalization Ceremony :) everything is ready to go, just waiting on that certificate! From what I have been reading from last year threads, the whole process is taking around a year, give or take. I-130 approval seems to be around 6-8 months (it can be more or less, of course). Please share your input!

Hope to talk to you all soon! Good luck to all of us!

I’ll file for my parents next month after oath ceremony. What documents are you sending with your application?

I 130 for my mother is currently in process. I got my priority date May 1, 2018. The documents i sent with the i130 form are my certificate of naturalization and my birth certificate showing my name and my mother’s name (showing relationship). Good luck to all of us!! I am anxiously waiting for the approval letter.

Hi JeanneSs,

I will be filing for my mother only, dad passed away.

This is what I would send for mother:

1. Check, money order, or credit card authorization form

2. G-1145 e-Notification

3. Citizenship Certificate

4. Birth certificate (showing you both have the same last name)

5. If you have a different last name, proof of your name change (marriage certificate or court order)

6. If your parents are married, I would provide marriage certificate

7. If they are divorced, I would provide divorce certificate

8. If they were married to someone else, marriage/divorce certificate

9. Copy of passport

For father:

All of the above. If your parents are or were married when you were born, I believe that's all set with the marriage certificate. If they were not married, then I believe his name on the birth certificate should be enough to prove the relationship.

If you were not legitimized, then USCIS says:

1. Evidence that an emotional or financial bond existed between you and your father before you were married or reached the age of 21, whichever came first.

Hope this helps!

Awesome, JRob! Good luck to you, I am sure we'll be seeing your petition as one of the first ones approved here. What's your service center?

Thank you very much. My passport or their passport?

Their passport. You will have your citizenship certificate included which has your picture, that should be enough for them.

Good list. You may want to remove duplicates and add YSC - Potomac Service Center.
