Hi,

I applied for the J1 waiver, and my case was approved by USIS on 11/01/2018. I receved the first NOA with my case number, and then

the second NOA (Form I-797C courtesy copy of approval notice, sent on 10/31/2018). However I never received the official I-797 format.

Can I use the courtesy copy to apply for my visa??? I mailed USCIS and they told me that to have a duplicate I must fill a format and pay a new fee (465$).

Is there anybody who experience in something similar??

Thanks

What I know is that if you're in the US, and will only change visas, the favorable recommendation from the DOS should suffice to submit your case file to the USCIS

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Is this normal to take so long for the DOS to receive the NOS?

My was sent on 11/16, and up to now, 1 month later, no update. I emailed them, and no response. This is so disappointing, I've seen different cases here and usually it is faster than that. I feel clueless about this whole process, it seems that's a lot of delays all the time.

Sorry for venting.

Today it has been 10 weeks for me after all the documents have been received by the DoS and the status is still "pending".

For me, it is exactly 11 weeks today, and still no answer. I emailed them exactly at 8 week timepoint, and they replied "there can be no guarantee that your waiver will be finished by a particular date".

Hi guys, I am waiting for both NOA and I-797 to arrive at my mailbox.

The problem is that I need the final waiver ASAP but I am abroad (Brazil) and the postal service here sucks (takes months to arrive here). Am I allowed to change my address on USCIS using a friend's home so he might send it to me when it arrives there using a better service?

Have anybody already tried something like that or do you guys think it'd break any law and put me in trouble? Any tips are highly appreciated.

I don’t understand. My case was received at USCIS lockbook a month prior to yours and have not been processed yet! Aren’t these supposed to be processed in the order they are received? Tried calling and all seem ok at their end (not much info given)

Hi guys,

has anyone heard of waivers being denied if you received home government funding? It is 11 weeks since my NOS was received and i am getting a little paranoid.

Thanks a lot!

Are you applying on the bases of non-objection and got the nos from your home country delivered? if yes, you're probably fine. I am also paranoid because it's been a delay for me as well.
