I understand the feeling. They are very disorganized and sometimes things just disappear. But, if it makes you feel better, we are not the first ones waiting longer for the notice of action. I can let you know as soon as I receive the mail. The other thing that you can do is to call USCIS and ask for the receipt number.

My favorable recommendation was sent to USCIS Vermont on November 28th. I called them yesterday and nobody was able to pull out information about my USCIS receipt number. Did calling USCIS actually work for you to get a receipt number? You guys are in the US and did not get the notice yet. So once I am abroad (Brazil) I am expecting my NOA to take a month or longer to arrive here :( It really concerns me because I need the waiver ASAP

Hi @Moraesm

I was just wondering how long it took for you to get your Notice of Action (Form I-797C) by mail. According to your older posts, you were in Brazil, right? I believe they sent it in your self-addressed envelope, right? I used the Coupon Réponse Modelo Istambul from correios. Did you use the same service? I am also in Brazil and just would like to have some idea about how long it should take, since my recommendation was sent to USCIS on Nov 28. Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply,

I don't recall choosing the mailing method. I remember going to the post office and asking the officer for a self-addressed envelope and he took care of it.

As for my notice of action, the document says that it was issued on the 09/18/2018, but I only got it in my address late October, so it took correios almost a month =/

I hope this answers your question.

I never called anybody. I'm not in a hurry, and everything is taking the expected time so far. I haven't received the NOA by mail yet, but it is also expected that some take longer, because I've been following some cases that this happened, plus the USPS wasn't working on Wednesday for a day of mourning. Anyway, I think my NOA might arrive next week and I'm ok with that.

BUT, I also read this: "I did. My NOA1 letter took forever to arrive because they sent it to my address in Brazil and the postal service sucks, so I eventually called them to get my case number, they had had my case for like a week. It got approved a few days after I got the case number. They sent the NOA2 to the US address. It took 16 days total from Received to Approved.

Edit: make sure you check the new website because they often won't update the old one. My case still shows as Received on the old system."

Somebody called them and got their number. It worked for this specific person. That's why I suggested it.

Hello Friends,

I have applied for waiver under No Objection Category and have attached my timeline below.  I have noticed in some of the posts the USDOS asks the sponsor for their view, in my case I finished my J-1 program in March 2017 and I am out of US since then. Will DOS still contact the sponsor?

My timeline is below. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the advisory opinion and  I have seen on this forum that people that filed a few days after me already got an opinion from the DoS. Tomorrow will be 10 weeks after all documents have been received. Do you think that I should send an e-mail and ask for my status? I actually did that 2.5 weeks ago but got the standard reply that 6-8 weeks is just an estimation and for some cases the case might take longer. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks a lot.  I called USCIS on last Friday. The T1 service cannot get any information from the name and DOB.

I've received my favorable recommendation Nov 7 but no updates from USCIS so far. Any luck in the last month for anyone here?

Yeah, you are correct. The first envelope should be used to send the I797c (Note of action) from USCIS when they get the recommendation. The second one USCIS should use to send your second Note of Action, which hopefully will be your final waiver.

I donot understand, I submitted two envelopes and both will be used by USCIS ? In that case, DOS will use their own envelope to send the recommendation?

I did not get to this step in the waiver process yet. I just got one email from DoS with a digitalized copy of my favorable recommendation and they mentioned it was forwarded electronically to USCIS Vermont. That's why I thought we were supposed to get only envelopes from USCIS. Not sure about that though. Maybe someone else who has been already through the whole process of getting the waiver might help you out better clarifying this.
