Hello Friends,

I have applied for waiver under No Objection Category and have attached my timeline below.  I have noticed in some of the posts the USDOS asks the sponsor for their view, in my case I finished my J-1 program in March 2017 and I am out of US since then. Will DOS still contact the sponsor?

I received my I-797 today!

Weirdly, the website still shows "Case Was Received At Another USCIS Office" even if the notice date for my I-797 was Oct/11.

Anyways, I'm glad that this is over, even if I don't actually need the waiver anymore. I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Hi Morasem, I have a question and I hope you can answer. How do you figure out the receipt number for USCIS case ?

Hi! Before I got the waiver itself I had received a Notice of Action (Form I-797C) which contained the receipt number for my case.

Sponsor views happen when the sponsor is one of the US government agencies, for exemple, NIH, NSF, DOS, etc. If you didn't receive funding from any of them, they won't ask for any sponsor views.

05/07/2021 - Package sent via USPS
05/08/2021 - Package delivered to Chicago lockbox
05/10/2021 - Case received by USCIS (PD)

09/24/2021 - Biometrics appointment

Hi @Moraesm

I was just wondering how long it took for you to get your Notice of Action (Form I-797C) by mail. According to your older posts, you were in Brazil, right? I believe they sent it in your self-addressed envelope, right? I used the Coupon Réponse Modelo Istambul from correios. Did you use the same service? I am also in Brazil and just would like to have some idea about how long it should take, since my recommendation was sent to USCIS on Nov 28. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I sent my J1 waiver application by mail on 11/16 and it just got the received status on the website. The funny part is that the embassy of my home country (Brazil) sent the NOS also on 11/16, however it seems that they haven't received yet. Should I be worried?

Thanks

B

In my case they updated the the NOS receipt within a few days. I suggest you go ahead and inquire with your embassy and DOS about the NOS.

DoS should take a week or two to acknowledge the receipt of NOS. After this time, you might consider inquiring them about it or asking the Brazilian Embassy to send it again. Good luck!

Did you receive your FR in self-stamped letter or I-797C from USCIS? My case showed USDOS sent FR on Nov. 26, but I have nothing received.

I begin to worry about it. When I mail my application package to USDOS first time, they lost it.

I understand the feeling. They are very disorganized and sometimes things just disappear. But, if it makes you feel better, we are not the first ones waiting longer for the notice of action. I can let you know as soon as I receive the mail. The other thing that you can do is to call USCIS and ask for the receipt number.
