I am currently in the process of applying for a CR1 visa. I am the beneficiary and I am due to visit my husband in USA (petitioner) next week! I am staying for three weeks. My daughter is also coming for the trip.

I have return tickets, copy of the NOA1, marriage certificate, letter from employer of when I am due back at work and also a letter from my daughter's school stating when she is due back. Permission letter from my daughter's father saying she is allowed to go on the trip with his contact details, my daughter's birth certificate and our proof of address. My husband's address and contact details.

Are these documents enough to prove I am just visiting and have no intention on staying?

I am starting to get nervous about entering the USA. I visited four times in 2016 and twice last year. I haven't yet visited in 2018.

My dad watches the usa border control programmes on repeat and he is freaking me out saying I won't be allowed in :/

I've always been very very honest at border control. This is the first time I am entering since we have been married, so I'm a little on edge about it. Haven't seen my husband since November and for us, that's a long time. (I know I am lucky to be able to say that) I'm feeling anxious about it! (I know I need to get a grip haha) but I am a worry wort!

Whenever he visits me in the UK he literally gets interrogated, every single time! Also we took a trip to Mexico when I went to visit him once and the customs and border control coming back into the USA experience was horrific! We got questioned and searched and argh! Customs checks always scare me, even though I know I am an honest person with nothing too hide!

Any advice on paperwork, too ease my mind would be great! Thank you!

Unfortunately, you are not guaranteed entry as you have demonstrated immigrant intent and a spouse in the US.  Many people successfully visit spouses during the process.  However, it will be up to you to convince the Officers that you do not intend to remain and adjust status....Good luck!!

Good luck.

I always feel feel the same. I’m going to Canada next month to see my fiancé even though he lives in the US. I always think ‘what if’ in some strange way I’m asked about our pending K1 but in reality Canada is totally not where I want to move (not to be disrespectful) and it’s a separate country.

Ok thanks for your responses. I guess it is what it is! If we get turned away then that's what will happen! All I can do is take as much proof as I can! I've never overstayed and I've always stuck to the rules, had return tickets etc. Can't do much more than that!

I'd be gutted for my daughter having to turn back more than anything as she wants to go to Disneyland for her birthday! But hey ho what will be will be!

It is unlikely you will be denied entry.  Remember to be truthful but concise.  Answer questions that are asked but do not keep talking or adding.  People have a habit of babbling when they're nervous. You're not doing anything wrong!

If you are denied entry, you will be expected to return to the UK.

One idea for the future is to travel through Dublin as they have preclearance.  That way you havent made the entire flight. The flight from Dublin to the USA would then be considered a domestic flight.  This is how it works in Canada. :)

It is good that you have a travel consent form for your daughter btw.  Many people forget that when travelling with a child.

You are unlikely to have a problem. I visited several times during the process. Not sure which airport you are POEing at but some are definitely easier on us than others. My worst experience of all was at Las Vegas airport. Also the CBP bloke at Blaine land border crossing once made a comment of "what's a nice girl like you doing with a guy from Seattle?" Took me by surprise a little.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Oh wow, they really asked you that!?

POE is LAX. They've always been quick and painless. The only times I've really ever encountered any problems, has been when I've traveled into places with my spouse.

(from Mexico into Cali, from UK into new York and Cali to London) my husband is mexican descent, so hes always questioned where he comes from, if his parents are mexican / Persian/ Arab. That kind of question. When he has a beard, it's ten times worse! No joke! He's been stuck in London for hours being questioned, twice now! They would never admit it's because of his race, but it is blatant by the questions that they ask. He's always so calm and honest about everything and he finds it quite amusing. I'm the one that doesn't so much but I guess I'm more defensive!

if you have a UK passport that allows u to stay 90 days, I don't think you will have issues. but if otherwise that requires you a vis then that's when u need to convince the consulate.

Yea I have a UK passport and an ESTA which is in date.

Thank you :)

How about..."What is the purpose of your trip?"

We're going to Disneyland!!! :P:D:jest::D

That ought to start any any further discussion off on a happy note. How could they send a little girl home after that?

As others said it's unlikely you will be denied. The important thing is to travel with ties. In most cases nobody gets asked more than a few questions. Your trip is only a few weeks and you haven't spent that much time in the US. So no real flags. You are also from a low fraud country which helps.
