Hello guys, I'm new here and I'm really glad to exchange experiences here. I'm sorry if I do something wrong like write in the wrong topic or ask something unnecessary, If I do that just please let me know and I can to fix it. My case to get my GC is going well so far and my process is already approved and is at the NVC. Jan 12 I got the NOA2 saying that. Now I'm waiting to get my case number so the process can continue. I read on this topic that the we should to call the NVC multiple times to make sure we get the case number or to know if they already received the process. But the thing is I have a lawyer and I would like to know If I to try to call them by myself to find out if they received my process  it would be good or not? And also to get my case number and give my email adresses. Would it interfere or disturb the process which is with the lawyer? (I'm anxious and I just wanted to help)

Either the petitioner, the beneficiary or the lawyer can make calls.

We also used a lawyer and the few things different with not having one are:

1) Most likely your agent will be chosen automatically. This means he will receive the 'Welcome letter' with the cover sheet (for the NVC package when the time is right). Though the Welcome Letter takes some time to be sent, and you could work ahead of time.

2) He or she will still receive the official emails from NVC, but probably you'll be forwarded those emails from his or her part, so no problems with that.

Still I recommend you to call NVC 2 times a week to (1) make sure that they have your packet, (2) to know if it was entered to their system (meaning you can obtain a 'Case Number' and 'Invoice Number' which you need to make the payments through the CEAC portal), and (3) confirm the agent AND add your email so that you also receive the updates directly.

Thank you very much dpk! I really appreciate that. Just still one question...I'm planning to call them tomorrow so I need my spouse information and mine, right? So I ask them if they received my case and if yes, if would be possible they tell me the Case Number and Invoice Number right? Also, I would ask them to add my email and my spouse's email, right?

Yes!

First thing you need to have your and your beneficiary's date of birth and full names. They could possibly ask for relationship too: spouse, parent, etc.

You will ask if they received your case from your Service Center "X" and provide them with the date when the NOA2 was issued. Now, don't worry if they say "we can't see it on our system" or "we don't have it". This could possibly be due to 2 scenarios: (1) if you were lucky and your Service Center forwards their approved cases fast, it could mean that they physically have it with at NVC, but they have not YET entered in the system (meaning no CN or IIN, at that time). (2) It could also mean that, even though it has been approved at your service center, USCIS haven't sent it YET. For example, my case's NOA2 was approved Oct 15th from TSC, but was not actually sent until Nov 15th, and even after that the CN and IIN were not issued until Nov 23rd (please refer to my signature for more detail).

Remain calm. Check the USCIS update portal, make sure it states "Your case was sent to DoS on XX/XX" (if this is not the status, chances are it was not yet emailed, so better call USCIS and ask them when will they do it), and after the XX/XX date you see give it 2/3 business days for NVC to physically get your documents. After that I consider calling consistently will pay off. I tried calling right after getting my NOA2, and guess what? It was no use because it was not sent then. I didn't know at the time that on average TSC was taking whole 30 days to send the approved petitions.

After confirming all of these steps, you cans ask the representative to reaffirm or change the choose of agent and have more emails added to their list of recipients for notifications.

Go luck!
