Hello everyone,

I married my wife on June 11, 2017 in the Philippines. We are young; I am 24. I can really use some guidance on filing for CR-1 visa!

Some background

*At this moment, I only know that the visa she needs is the CR-1 VISA

* I am not working since I am a student (finishing a finance degree); my eldest brother who earns more than 125% of what is required will be my joint-sponsor

I need help, as I'm not really sure what to do first, or what documents to send in.

If someone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate that!

Thanks

As a joint sponsor and you with no income ,  he needs to include himself, both of you and anyone else he supports such as his wife and children

go to the top of this page and hit guides

follow the spouse CR1 visa steps

Is there anywhere I can check to verify he does earn enough? I checked a few months ago but I lost the link.

Thanks

Rennar, I am older than you by a lot, you are claiming youth as a reason for being unsure. If you are like most 20somthings, i assume you are fairly computer savvy, this is a self-help site, you need to be more proactive in your research, google info, search the forums here. With all good intentions of those that respond you will be given wrong or misleading info.

i know i am sounding like a #######, but i do not mean to come across that way. Use the guides, ask specific questions but intend to do the legwork yourself.

you will better prepared for subsequent stages

good luck!

Hi Randy, actually my name is Randy also - Rennar is my username

I agree completely with you, actually I am very computer savvy. It's just daunting and intimidating for me to handle immigration matters by myself - and with a ton of links everywhere I thought I'd come here for some brief guidance which I got!

I don't agree with you, you do not sound like a #!#@ or whatever. Your comment was very helpful

Thank you everyone!

A joint sponsor would not count the petitioner in his household unless he's claiming him as a dependent on his tax return.

Hey bro, I'm a filipino and my wife and I got married in the philippines  on June 20, 2017. I'm only 19 years of age! The process is very easy if you do careful research and cover all your bases! it's always good to front load by front load I any type of evidence you can get your hands on.

Thank you everyone!

It does seem daunting and intimidating at first. But once you start looking into it and start filling out the forms you'll see it's not that bad :) We've all been there. Most of our members have done this all ourselves without lawyers etc. You'll be fine :)
