Hey everyone,

Quick question, is anyone waiting to get their fiancee's social security number before marrying? We applied last week, but they said it could take up to 4 weeks to arrive. Would it mess up the process if we married while they're still processing his SSN?

Thanks!

My fiance did not get any papers.  At the end of the interview (20-25 minutes), the CO simply said something like "You can leave now.  We will review all of your documentation, and we will let you know what the decision is."

Have you heard anything. If you dont receive anything that usually means they need to review it more!

Today is 4 weeks since the interview, and we still have not heard anything.  I emailed the embassy 2 weeks ago, and they replied that they did not need anything from us at that time.  I emailed the embassy again on Friday, but I have not heard back from them yet.

Our case may be more complicated than normal, since she is a Russian citizen living in Greece (legally).  We supplied all of the required documents, birth certificate, police reports, etc.  I just hope we hear something soon.  Our NOA2 expires on May 30th, so maybe that will motivate them to make a decision.

I would write a letter now asking for them to finalize the VISA and schedule the pick-up before the 30th or kindly extend the expiration date.

Don't wait for the end of May.

4-weeks already......that's long. (all of the "complication" should have been vetted already) - but, who knows what the embassy does?????

Put them on notice - they need to issue the VISA or issue an extension....in writing.

Maybe a phone call to embassy to ask if this is the appropriate time to request an extension.

Good Luck

So Ive moved to America on a K-1 Visa on April 18, 2018, and I got married on May 1, 2018! Im now working on the I-485 and i'm confused if i'm supposed to do another Affidavit of Support I-864? Can I use the ones from the Consulate interview or not?

Also to make things more difficult, I have a co-sponser as well.. So do they have a co-sponser form as well?

Yes, you have to do another Affidavit of Support with the I-485.  However, the one you submitted to the US embassy for the interview should have been an I-134 form.  Whereas, now you are going to do the I-864 form.  So it is two different forms.

after POE - they say you should wait a week or two to be sure all the entry info is entered into the system for your I-94.

You will need a copy of the I-94 you get online to take to SS office - along with your passport.

As I understand the process.

To marry - all that is required is a passport.

They forgot to give me my I-94 at the border, so I called them and I had to drive back to the border I entered at and when I got there the system wasn't working.. so they had to do a paper one. They said it would take about a week to be in the system. I live by the border so before I moved I was always crossing the border since I was a kid. When I looked up my i94 online it had the date from 2016? so Im sorta stuck

My POE is just around the corner ( finally, yay!) has applied for a ssn yet? If so, What is that process like? And once you received it, can you start looking for jobs ASAP?

Also, does anyone know how long we have to wait before we can visit our home country again/leave the u.s?

For Brasil....

So after all this time I am scheduled to fly to Brasil on June 6th and fly back with Ana on June 10th.  This is the schedule we made at the end of March - allowing time

for Ana to close everything and make ready to depart.  Now, we are into the second week of this truckers strike, etc. and the whole country is gridlocked - literally.

I don't know what the status of the country will be next week - if I can fly into SaoPaulo  or have gasoline and clear roads to travel.  Right now - there is nothing moving and no food, water or gasoline

in the stores.  I cant believe this is the next hurdle to overcome - getting into Brasil and out again with my bride.  I have to make a decision by beginning of next week to push the flights back if the situation

does not resolve.

Anyone else from Brasil trying to depart in the next two weeks?
