For our liberal posters who were claiming Trump voters were regretting having voted for him.  It seems more people regret voting for Hillary, but don't let facts keep you from posting your spin.

"One year after the 2016 presidential election, the vast majority of Donald Trump voters have no regrets.

According to a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted on the eve of the first anniversary of Trump's historic election, 82 percent of those who say they supported Trump last year would vote for him again if they had to do it over. That's slightly more than those who say they would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton again — 78 percent — if they had the chance."

It is clear Hillary was not the right candidate in 2016.

From the same link "While most Trump voters would back him in a 2016 do-over, some defect when asked whether they will vote for Trump or a generic, unnamed Democrat in 2020. About three-quarters of Trump voters, 76 percent, back Trump in the 2020 matchup, while 8 percent would support the Democrat. Compare that with Clinton voters: Ninety percent would vote for the Democrat, and only 3 percent would vote for Trump. Roughly twice as many Trump voters (16 percent) are undecided about whom they would support in 2020 as Clinton voters (7 percent), suggesting Trump's support is softer than it appears on the surface."

Despite that overall numbers mean nothing. Winning the popular vote by almost 3 millions did not help Hillary win the election. I am more interested in the swing state numbers.

What is telling is that after a disasterous year with no promises filled, the cult like behavior is strong with his real core

Seems fair, as they are being asked a hypothetical question, with no idea who that candidate would actually be in that case.  The Trump voters are being asked if they would support someone from the party they voted against (for all we know, Trump could switch parties), but the Hillary voters are being asked if they would simply support the party they voted for in the last election.  It really isn't the same question when you look at it, so the stats aren't all that comparable.  I think that question in the poll could have been worded much better.

Many promises have been fulfilled, you just don't like it, so you try to ridicule and belittle his supporters.

It is funny you mention cult like behavior, since Donna Braille described the Hillary campaign in those exact words. :jest:

You were the one claiming "yuge" numbers of Hillary supporters would have changed their vote, and you also suggested many people would have switched their vote to Trump. This poll doesn't back up your assertion, it just shows you moved the goalposts.  This poll suggests similar numbers. 7% of Trump voters and 8% of Clinton voters would have voted for someone different, and not necessarily would they have switched to the other candidate.

If we want to use the term regret, for lack of a better word, it's still telling that a statistically similar number of people regret backing the "winner" as does backing the "loser". It's unusual the winners are just as discontent as the losers. Must be a pyrrhic victory.

I was countering one of your liberal buddies who was claiming that Trump voters regret their vote.  Be honest with yourself and everyone else on here.  I know that is difficult for liberals, but please try.

The poll doesn't refute that claim though. Roughly as many Trump voters would change their vote as Clinton voters. I don't think it's normal to find just as many people unhappy about winning as they are about losing.

The poll just indicates that less people would consider voting for Trump, which means that he would still not win the popular vote....

The recent elections in VA/NJ and across the country seem to indicate the noisy majority is ready to take America back from the Trump regime.
