After NOA2 you wait for the NVC to issue a case number for your petition. You can start calling the NVC about 2 weeks after your NOA2 date to see if they have generated a case number. Once you have the case number, you can track where the case is (at NVC, in transit, or at the embassy). Once the case arrives at your embassy or consulate, you can fill out the DS-160 form online and prepare to schedule the interview.

Thank you for your reply but what is NOA2 and NVC? I’m the petitioner filing for my fiancé. I was approved on Sept 25th but when I called in September they said they haven’t even reach April cases yet. (That’s when I filed) so I haven’t received my approval letter as of yet either.

They will tell you whatever the current listed processing times are when you call them, and the listed processing times do tend to be be slightly behind actual processing times. Did you find out you were approved by calling them? If you were told you were approved in September, you should have your NOA2 approval letter by now.

The NVC is the center that assigns case numbers to K1 petitions. It's basically a checkpoint that all cases go through between NOA2 and the specific country's embassy.

Yes I found out I was approved by calling them. That was yesterday. I’ve been calling every month and just last month they told me they were still working on the cases. I have not received a letter but the representative that I spoke with put in for me to get my approval letter

My question was after you have been approved for your fiancé visa what is the next step after guy receive your approval letter in the mail

@Tasha Smith I`m not sure what you have absorb from the answers in this post, but "normally" after your husband have done AND PASSED the interview, he could have chosen to receive the VISA along with a brown packet by snail or pick in a authorized US Office in his city.

After that he is ready to travel. Remember the brown packet CAN NOT be opened by him. He will deliver that in his point of entry also known as POE. Hope it helps.

No we are not that far in the process. I called USCIS yesterday and found out our application was approved. I just wanted to know what happens after I receive my approval letter. What is the next step. I haven’t received it yet but I believe the rep put in for it to be sent out to me

Ow, I`m so sorry. I completely misunderstood your first post. So here it goes, after being approved now you will receive your confirmation in the mail and have to prepare a packet of information and send it to your husband in Jamaica. This is just one of the things.

The US embassy in his country, will receive your petition automatically (it is a embassy to embassy talk) and they will get in touch with your husband via mail telling him the next steps, which basically are, fee payment, bunch of other documents and medical. Once he has all that, he will be ready to schedule the interview in his country which MAYBE you can also attend. (Some petitioners option to travel to their spouse countries to attend the interview together which is nice, but not all countries allow that - It is not mandatory otherwise he can also go alone with all the proper info).

Thank you for the info as I may be able to use it later. As for now I’m sitting here heart broken because yesterday I was given false information by one of the representatives at USCIS. 😢. She told me my app was approved. I just recently called and two other very rude reps (two different calls) told me that my case is still pending which is also a concern because they have me down as not receiving my receipt and will destroy my documents by November 5th. I received my receipt. This is one big show now
