IMO, if it is so important for you to become a US citizen, you need to spend the majority of your time in the US.  If you want to be a citizen of another country, spend the majority of your time there. That is what it looks like you did.

Hi,

I had my interview done today at New York office. All went ok, but when I was asked about my application form, the officer asked me about my trips, I had 6 trips in the last five years all less than 6 months. So that was not a problem.

She said that the number of days I spent outside the US mentioned in the forms are 912 but what she calculated, she corrected the number of days in the form and she said that the total is 928 days. I said I did the approximation as it was difficult to remember each and every trip exact dates. She said that but still there is a difference. And then she started the civic test whcih i passed and she said great. Then she handed me the letter which showed that i have passed the test but No decison can be made yet. She said she will give it to her supervisor for review and you will get to hear with in 120 days.

I  want to ask what will happen now? because I full fill the other requirements and everything else went fine. Also, my husband will get his interview date soon and he also has the same travel history as of mine. Should he mention the corrections in the number of days before his interview starts?

Thanks.

Please fill out your timeline.  This makes it easier for people to help you.  Mahalo

928 days.. during last 5 years about 2.5 yrs outside US

Yeah why would someone who wants so badly to be an American Citizen find it necessary to be out of this great country nearly 50% of the time.  And she mentioned that she had difficulty calculating the days.  Wouldn't one simply refer back to their passport/travel documents for the exit and entry dates?  If I were the OP I would just stay in the US for the next 5 years and do this thing right.

No when calculating the days we didnt count 31st in months. Thats why this happened.

If my application gets denied, can i resumbit it right away because i havent gone to anywhere this whole year, and if i count this period when resubmiting the application again, i would take out the 2012 year in which i was outside the US for 5 months. Right?

Omg, how can you “forget” the days in each month!?  I agree with other VJers, fulfill the residency requirements and don’t be dishonest with the days submitted.

u got plane tickets but u guess exact number of day need for us citizenship.  very convenient.

now u want to go outside us again.

seem like trick us government with lie about day in us to get us citizenship.

Well, this comment sounds "judging" to me. She said she needs to live though because it is urgent.
Not everyone will have a dare to trick the government and plays with Immigration Laws.

Come back to the topic, maybe wait until the OP responds what she is going to do next and she must expect the consequences of doing it.

Why you are so rushing in re-applying? If you want to be approved, you must take it seriously, do the calculation to see if you could be able to travel again or not.
Anyways, if there is urgent thing is happening in half way around the world then you could take a break from N400, go back and solve your porblems.

Then come back and apply for N400 after a period of time, when you establish and fulfill all the N400 requirements.

Yes, you can reapply if it is denied.

Just do the day calculations again and double check them to make sure that you qualify.

It is helpful to use a date calculator.  You can google date calculators and then put in the first and last day of a trip and it will count the days in between for you.  Pay attention to whether or not it adds the day you left and the day you returned.

Ignore the people with judgmental comments.  It's none of their business why you are in or out of the country.

Best of luck to you!

In some cases, depending on the country, there are no entry/exit stamps, so a person cannot refer back to the passport.

My Canadian passport has never been stamped in over 20 years since my last 2 renewals, and I didn't keep any of my airline receipts,...not saying the OP shouldn't have tried to calculate the dates better, just pointing out sometimes the person cannot rely on passport stamps alone.

I would suggest filing an FOIA with the US border (it's free) to get your travel records from them.

USA is this one https://www.cbp.gov/site-policy-notices/foia

USA claims to have a 60-day turnaround time, and the request can be tracked online.

With all due respect that's why I wrote passport/travel documents.  Travel documents could be boarding passes, plane ticket receipts, on-line records kept by your chosen airline, etc...  It's true, we have no idea where this person is from.  I sometimes question whether we should even reply to questions when someone cannot at least partially fill in their time-line.

I think you know all the rules, and intentionally lied on the application. You will likely get a deny. If you have a strict officer or supervisor, they might also put a note that you lied on the N-400 application. That would make it harder when you apply again.

Well unless VJ makes it a member requirement to  fill in the timeline, we'll have to put up with not knowing in some cases lol...but yeah, profiles/timelines are nice to be able to help someone more fully sometimes.

Yeah, unfortunately I had none of that when I applied for my N400...my current passport was all blank pages, my expired passport was all blank pages, no travel receipts, no boarding passes, none of that.  Many of my tickets were bought using cash so no bank/credit card statements.  I had a tough time estimating dates of my travel for the past 5 years and sweated over that part of the application myself for a while  :/

Finally ended up requesting FOIAs  regarding travel history.
