We are sitting at the same stage, CEAC says issued as of the 17th. Information at the moment still shows her Passport is at the Embassy. She is getting nervous because her flight is in a week and she needs the Visa before she can get a bank draft because of Nepal's currency controls.

Yeah, sounds like we're playing the same waiting game. But wow! That would be nerve-wracking! Is it difficult to get the bank draft? Could she get that done the same day as VOH? Good luck to you!

When she came to study in the US she had to present the bank with her visa and with the information from the university on the tuition costs. Nepal has super strict currency rules for taking money in and out of the country if you are a citizen or a foreigner. I just know she is nervous because she wants to make sure it is all in hand well ahead of time. To bring money here she either has to convert it to USD first or get a draft which is safer, she can't fly with more than $50 USD worth of Nepali Rupees.

Ah yeah that does sound difficult. I'm sure if I were in that position I would be the same and want to have it all sorted out ahead of time. Good luck to you guys! I'm sure we'll have our visas on hand soon!

Hopefully you have the same. It will be nice when all of us are busy with the AOS and terrorizing a new subforum.

Probably one of the best shocks you ever got.

One Day More... One Day Less... One Day Closer :jest:

So at least things are looking up.  One of the Police Clearances have been delivered to the Embassy and the other should be there tomorrow.  Which will give them 2 and a half weeks to finish it up and get the Visa to her.  Then she should be leaving to fly here for POE on 12/11.  I can't wait.

Thank you everyone who wished me good luck and who have asked how it went!
My POE was yesterday at Raleigh-Durham international airport in North Carolina. I landed at around 2pm and by 15:30 Collin had picked me up and we were on our way! It was a very smooth POE, the staff were super friendly and joked around with me a lot. I joined the 'all visas' line were I waited for around 30-40 minutes. Once I got to the front, the officer asked me for my passport, packet and asked me about Collin and where we are going to live. He turned to the officer behind him and asked where K1s needed to be processed before sending me downstairs into a small waiting room. I waited for 10 mins max when I was called into an interview type room. A few questions later and I was on my way :)

Congratulations!!!!!  :D

ALSO

For any of those wanted an easy way to transfer savings, me and Collin used 'World Remit'. We have used this many times. From the UK to the US you can send up to £3000 via debit card and I think £30,000 via bank transfer. The exchange rate is great and the fee is only £2.50 so well worth it over somthing such as paypal or even your own bank. I think this works for different countries too, although the limit and fee varies from country to country :)
