Before they send your appliation to the embassy, U must have the Case # Invoice # and the benificiary# . NVC will send you an email & Instructions fo the nxt steps. Once you have that your status in ceac will automatically changed to 'transit' to 'ready' Good luck! :)

No, she doesn't have to have those numbers. You can call and ask for your case number (the other numbers are of NO importance to a K1) since in some countries you might need the case number to book for example the medical  but if you don't call and get it from the NVC she will still get that number from the embassy when they contact them once they have received the case. A K1 doesn't have to do any of those things and have nothing to do with the NVC except that the case number is given to the file which is sent on to the embassy. This is done wether or not they contact the NVC. NVC doesn't send them an email with instructions, the embassy does.

OP here. Thanks for all the responses. I posted here as the NVC is closed on weekends and our appointment is this week. I am flying to attend the visa interview with my fiance. I got the case number, invoice number etc. last month when I called NVC

What I am confused about is us being listed in the immigrant visa side and saying we have six steps to take before an interview. According to other posts I read it seems that NVC just forwards the application to the embassy in days. NVC received our application 6 weeks ago. I called and got our case number a month ago. Why is it taking so long to send to the embassy? We went and scheduled the appointment for 7 weeks after NVC received our application thinking by our appointment time everything would be ready to go at the embassy.

Also our wedding is next month and we are having spent a lot of money of the venue etc. We started this process in February and I really thought my fiance would be here by August.

I am calling the NVC Monday. Do you think they will be able to send out our stuff to the embassy Monday? Is there any expedited options? Or will we have to do those 6 steps?

As said, ALL K1's ARE LISTED AS IMMIGRANT VISAS AT THE NVC. Again, no you don't need to do those 6 steps. That is for immigrant visas that are processed at the NVC.

It's also very possible that your status has passed the other statuses and gone back to "at NVC" if it's been a whole 6 weeks. It does that after the ready status sometimes.

Again, K1 is a dual intent visa. Immigrant and non-immigrant. It is listed at the NVC as immigrant. It is processed at the embassy at the immigrant unit and after approval it is changed to a non-immigrant  (this will show up as a title in ceac - but you will still search for it under immigrant).

Did the fiancé get any info at all from the embassy? You shouldn't have been able to schedule if they didn't have the case.

At NVC is what mine said too for a while. It depends on how quickly after it's "ready" you have your interview. If it sits and waits for a while (not sure how long exactly)  it'll go to "at NVC" while awaiting the embassy response.

I suppose it's the only status they have while "awaiting processing" for "immigrant" class visas. The K1 visa is an odd one out in that category - you are not the first or last to be confused by it :)

Never ever book expensive venues when you're waiting for something like a visa. Anything could go wrong, even if you pass the interview you could get stuck in administrative processing for any reason. And as you're finding out, sometimes they get things mixed up and don't send things to where they're supposed to go. I had an idea of when I'd be in the US too but ended up there about 4 months later due to processing delays.

You may need to contact the venue and see what if anything can be done, depending on the outcome of your call with the NVC on Monday.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Nope neither of us have received anything. When we did the ds-160 and paid the interview application fee I used the case number that NVC gave me over the phone. For the medical they wanted his appointment confirmation page.

When you do that booking it also says to not proceed if you didn't get checklist for the beneficiary. You didn't see that?

How did you know what documents he needed to collect. I'm not sure of the exact procedure for your embassy, sometimes you are just given a link to their website and that info is there and sometimes you are sent an email and sometimes a letter. Since you got no info at all, I would contact the embassy and the nvc. If they don't have your case, then obviously you can't have your interview, but it's been 6 weeks, it would be strange if they didn't. Have you asked in the local forum the exact info you should have gotten from them embassy? If not I'd start there.

We are learning. We are getting married in a catholic church and we can't get married again if we are already married. So we couldn't get married in the courthouse and then plan a big wedding. So here we are with a big wedding next month and no fiance. I'm praying that when we call the NVC our stuff can be sent and we can still attend the scheduled interview or only have it delayed a week.

We went on the state website and they have a put in embassy drop down menu and you get all the steps. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/KNG - Kingston.pdf  Nothing on the USIC or State site says anything about sending forms to NVC and reading others post on the NVC it seemed the NVC would send the stuff quickly. So we thought  it was no harm in proceeding once I got the case number from NVC as we thought the case would be sent to the embassy in a few days.

Well that PDF is clearly directed also to K1's - although it doesn't specify the self-booking of interview and ds-160 specifics. I honestly think that your case is at the embassy, but you'll only find out after asking.
