Donald Trump has offered to help Charlie Gard, a critically ill 10-month-old who is being treated in London.

The news comes after a UK court ruled the infant's life support machine should be turned off.

In an unusual move, the US President tweeted, "If we can help little #CharlieGard, as per our friends in the UK and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so."

More than 1,200 homeless veterans living on Los Angeles streets still need housing

More than 1,200 veterans are living on Los Angeles streets, thwarting Mayor Eric Garcetti’s repeated pledges to end the city’s soaring rates of veteran homelessness, officials said Thursday.

Faced with the highest number of homeless veterans of any city in the nation, Garcetti had promised to find housing for every homeless resident who served in the military, first by the end of 2015 and then by last summer.

An unprecedented infusion of federal rent vouchers and services has helped place more than 8,000 veterans in the city of Los Angeles in homes since January 2014. Still, four to five service members, including those returning from troop drawdowns overseas, land on L.A. streets each day, Garcetti said.

His comments came during a downtown news conference and panel discussion with U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald.

Garcetti said ending veteran homelessness remains his “highest priority,” although he is no longer setting a timetable. The city has launched an ambitious $1.2-billion campaign to build 10,000 units of housing for the homeless by 2026. In addition, a quarter-cent tax proposal to provide $355 million a year for homeless services will be on the March ballot in Los Angeles County.

“Every time we set a goal, we’re getting closer,” the mayor said.

Undocumented seem a higher priority on LA.

Exactly, it's sickening the President is using this for political gain, to prove or show he has a heart.

It would be interesting if the family were to accept Trump's offer. The child has a pre-existing condition, and no medical insurance in the US. How can the so-called president help them?

And why not extend the same hand to dying children in other countries? Aren't there thousands of Syrian children that have been displaced, who might need a country to grow in? Why not offer to help them?

It is disgusting that he is using the suffering of this family to show how much of an idiot he is.

also sickening that his supporters will eat it up. like trump doesn't already have the right to life crowd in his pocket. but say something about poor kids in america needing expensive life saving treatment without the means to pay, or even something as simple as free lunch at school.

Absolutely not. Helping our own is socialism. Helping others is charitable and christian, except if they are Muslim, in which case, they need not come near us.

It takes time to clean up all the messes Obama created in 8 years of a failed presidency.

You guys are ignoring the elephant in the room here. The failed socialist UK health care system. If socialist health care us so great why is nothing being done to try to save this kid?

who knew "rare genetic condition and .. brain damage" was caused by the "failed socialist uk health care system"

why is nothing being done to save this kid? did you read anything about the condition of the kid you're so worried about?

is 'thanks obama' still your go to? sad.

Well he did hang the veterans out to dry (A few of them being family and friends of mine) in more ways than one. Trump is not going to be able to reverse the problem of veteran homelessness that reached a quite frankly disgusting level in the Obama years over night. It's funny how all of Obama's failures such as Obamacare are now blamed on Trump because he didn't fix them all overnight.
