Biometrics done today. Do ASC receptionists get paid more to be irritable? I went in with my appointment notice and my driver's license, green card, and military photo ID, left everything else in the car. First receptionist tells me to leave everything but my driver's license back in my car -- including my green card. Thought that was a little odd, but okay. Come back in with just my driver's license and get a different receptionist this time. Her first question: "where's your Green Card?" I explained that I had been told to leave it in the car, and then also pointed to the line on the appointment notice that says "Naturalization applicants must bring their Alien Resident Card. ALL OTHER APPLICANTS must bring..." and it goes on to list every other form of photo ID except for the Alien Resident Card. She glares at me and says, "This is an immigration appointment. You should ALWAYS have your green card with you." I took a deep breath, counted to five, smiled politely and asked if she would like me to go back out and get it from the car, where her colleague had told me to put it. She ignored me and shoved the clipboard of paperwork across the desk and me and walked away.

At least the actual biometrics people were super nice!

I am still waiting for NOA1 and submitted the petition on 7/18 and USPS has it delivered on 7/20. But I have heard that they sometimes wait the full thirty day period of notification if you submit a fee wavier request with your petition. Go figure.

Hey CB &FM,

I say do not worry since they cashed their check and received their NOA1 but I am wondering about your case: you really have no way to check if they received your waiver? I ask because, if I do remember well, you are almost at the end of your open-window for ROC, no?

When wife filed AOS February 2015, hers took one of the longest times of any of that month's filers.

For a few, their process took approx 60 days.

For my spouse; it was 267 days.

And no RFE's . . . and she is very good looking in pictures submitted !!

The trend seems to be continuing.

For VT filers, the range from applicant mailing to NOA received (with one exception) is 6 - 10 days.

We are now at day 13.

One other took 15 days, but it looks strange because NOA dated 10 days before NOA received.  Where does it take 10 days for mail to travel in USA?

Interesting also because in Calif, it seems the NOA is auto spit out by computer the same day packet received.  Surely VT has the same automatic computer/printer setup.

Actually, now with a second look, it appears VT computer does spit out NOA for most people the day after receipt of package.  Could it be that difference in time to receive NOA is related to employee who is assigned to stuff letters in envelope?  Maybe he/she gives preference to persons whose last name falls in a particular place in the alphabet!!  :-)

But maybe the envelope stuffing process is automated also.

When we mailed packet, I neglected to tear off stub of money order to keep.

So we cannot determine if money order was cashed.

But surely USCIS did not panic when they saw stub still attached and stop the processing.
