First Time B2 US Visa Application

Hi! Can you please help me regarding my B2 US Visa Application. 

 

I am a 4th year Medical Student here in the Philippines and I plan to go to New York City on December 2017 as a graduation and birthday gift of my auntie. I will be graduating on January 2018. It is my first time travelling to USA. In my DS160 form, my contact person lives in New Jersey she is a family friend. While my relatives were living in California. The purpose of my travel is just to have a short vacation in my dream City since I was young. 

 

I am travelling alone and my auntie will sponsor my trip. She is a doctor here in the Philippines. I will be staying in NYC for only a week, I plan to stay in one of the hotels in Brooklyn. 

 

Do I have any chance of having a Visa?

Usually when you say someone else will be paying for trip it makes it harder to get a tourist visa.

 

Also having relatives in the US can make it harder to get a tourist visa as well. In general, it seems you have a weak case I'm afraid. You can always apply and find out. It's worth trying regardless. They will be looking for strong ties and reasons for you to return to your home country.

Thank you for your advice and encouragement.  I'm afraid I have a big chance to be rejected. Regarding strong ties to my country, I live here in the Philippines for 26 years already. Even I have relatives in the US, I have no plans of visiting California. My only plan is to go to New York. And I have no plans of staying longer than one week because of my graduation. I also need to undergo training and pass the boards to become a full pledged doctor so I guess there's no reason of staying in NYC for a longer period of time.

You can stress your need to return to the Philippines in order to pass your boards/do training. I think that's your best bet. Focus on your strong ties to the Philippines during the interview and try to bring any supporting evidence of this if possible.

Alright I will do that. I have read in other forums that some got rejected for travelling alone. I have travelled in other Asian countries already like Malaysia where I went as a solo traveller for a few days and also in Vietnam.

Is it true that other Consulate don't even bother to look at the supporting documents?

Most of the time they do not look at supporting documents. But it's still a good idea to bring along just in case.

Make sure to include any and all strong ties when you fill out your application... most visa decisions are made BEFORE the interview. I would not say anything about a relative sponsoring your trip.
