Okay, it is completely good parenting and responsible to smoke around kids.

lol I guess that went right over your head and proved yet again you know nothing about me because if I could take these children away from these parents I would. So let me help you a little bit, the point was...irresponsibility does not equate to not caring. Personally I thought it was incredibly clear.

Some do, but most do not.  Our primary industries - Silicon Valley, agriculture, and Hollywood - remain intact and we still have the 6th largest GDP in the world.  I'm pretty sure we will be fine in helping out the rest of the world move forward on this a bit.

Other states are following suit, by the way, not to mention every other country in the world except Syria.  Does this mean these exiting industries will continue to hop around?

Most do not??? Maybe because you live in San Diego and probably never gone outside of San Diego or Los Angeles, but a number of companies simply packed up and moved out of California. It's gotten so bad about companies doing it that the governor doesn't even try to wooo them to stay anymore. The only large companies that actively sticking in CA are those involved with the DOD and those in Silicon Valley.

I would probably agree with you on all these things.  However, regarding the topic of this thread, that of global warming, your contention that California isn't reducing emissions is false, and, in fact, California is leading the world, let alone the nation, on that matter.

Obviously you hate Jerry Brown.  But don't let such zealousness blind you from this simple fact that we are doing some things right and hate those things as well.

But it is my guess that you don't believe that we, as humans, have artificially contributed to global warming, so perhaps this is irrelevant for you.  Your statement on climate trends absent human influence indicates so anyways, as this a common fallacious argument of the right and science-deniers.

Science, of course, and 97% of climate scientists - the actual experts on the matter - ardently disagree with you on this.  Statistics show that we are artificially pumping an additional 29 gigatons a year into our climate - note I said IN ADDITION - to the normal rate CO2 is emitted by Earth and life on it naturally.  Furthermore, the math shows that this brings us from a negative net emission/absorption figure to a positive, and has for decades.  And charts show a direct correspondence between this surplus during the Industrial Age that we are in and the cumulative rise in CO2 and global temperatures.  Furthermore, if you want to talk about trends, cyclic data over millenia show that we were set to go into a COOLING trend before the Industrial Age changed things.

I think I'll stick with the research rather than some random internet guy who seems to have a hard on for our governor.

I said California is reducing emissions, I never said it wasn't. But it is reducing emissions and making companies pay for it at the cost of good jobs. You can tell your a far left wing cook job because you say that "California is leading the world, let alone the nation, on that matter." That's what all the Left Wing Democrats say here in California "That California will lead the way for the rest of country". Well I hate to break it to you but the rest of the country does not want to be like California at all. Hell, a large majority of middle class in California don't want to be in California anymore and are looking for ways out to other states.

Yes, I do not hide that I hate this Governor at all. He has been elected to California Governor for 4 terms but has not done anything to help the state. He is in fact doing things that hurt this state and the people in it, all the while catering to environmentalists, illegals, and criminals. Did you ever hear about AB 109, Prop 47 and 57?

Yes, really.  California isn't the only state in our nation to have policies and standards for carbon emission, or even have a cap and trade system.   And Syria was the only other country that didn't want to participate in the Paris Accord, which also promotes such standards.  Why do you find this hard to believe?

Again, I think we are, and will be, economically fine.

Feel free to prove me otherwise.

Fair enough.  Perhaps it wasn't incredibly clear because I still fail to see how your contention that irresponsibility does not equate to not caring has anything to do with what I was saying.

Yes, reducing carbon comes at a cost.   No question about that.  That's what decades, or centuries, rather, of unregulated CO2 pollution has brought us.  Sacrifices now need to be made for the greater good or we will all suffer much more catastrophically in the coming decades.

California has most certainly led the way in fighting carbon pollution.   In fact, your favorite governor is on a trip now to China to advise city governments there willing to do what needs to be done.

Quoting the LA times really? Monogram heading to the largest CO2 emitting country in the world while complaining about the USA, that is epic.

I love facts.

Also, notice California has a larger figure than any other state.

So it is wrong to help educate our number one polluter in ways to reduce said pollution?

If we are going to just point fingers, how about we point fingers at ourselves for our position as number one for several decades?

But, nooooo, Paris isn't a fair deal for us.

Never mind that what we did in throughout the 20th century wasn't fair to the rest of the world, and what we are doing now won't be fair to our youth.

Actually I think it's incredibly arrogant of us, if you ask me, to complain that we are paying more than our share in the accord than others, including developing nations that didn't get to enjoy the luxury we had in unfettered and reckless pollution we got to enjoy to get where we are, at everyone's expense.

But that's Trump for you I suppose.

Global warming means exactly that.  CO2 emissions don't stay in the state they were emitted from, let alone affect only the state climate.  Everyone needs to be in an agreement or we will all suffer.  California is doing its part.  Are you?

Probably. I don't really worry about it out here. I plan on moving us outside the city anyways. I'd be more concerned if I was in the Bay Area still where there were millions of people, emissions, and pollution in general compacted into a small geographical area. Of course, implementing leftists policies aren't practical for much of the world, and I don't see the wealthy leftists using their money to help those people. Instead they're using it, like Uncle Soros, to bus liberals around to disrupt Trump rallies and cause a ruckus. When I see the left leading by example for a change it might inspire others to do the same. I see no reason why I should be spending my money helping them out until they do so.

Do you understand the basics of CO2 emissions and the climate?  Because moving to the farm is not going to save you and your family.

I understand the basics, what I don't see is the proof that humans are causing it to change, or any meaningful change (I see far more proof that climate change is natural), nor do I see how a few countries in a world populated with billions could magically change the Earth's climate by changing their methods of pollution. If climate models, the crux of applications of climate theory, were in the least bit accurate, and there were not so many competing models, I'd believe we really have a gasp on the complex system of climate. It's clear we don't. /inb4 straw man of "but you'll never get 100% utter complete perfection"
