Transcripts are the best way to go. It is all one a few sheets of paper and nothing extra to send.

Definitely transcripts. W2's ahow your salary and taxes taken out. But the don't show you filed taxes.

What is the purpose to file them in this case if they are already taken out and NVC can see it in W-2?

Because one is between the company and the gov and the other is between you and the gov.

For instance, it is the responsibilty of the company to pay taxes towards SS and medicaid. But the company is witholding taxes based on information you provided to them (remember how you job asks you how many to claim as dependents when you firat start?). Even though your job takes out takes feom your check there are thongs in your life that could affect how much you owe or get returned. Your job does not know or is responsible for the tax credits or deductions you claim. Things like child care expenses or money/gifts to charities can change your tax return or payment.

Trust me it happened to me. I had a jump in pay one year and when i filed i ended up owing a couple thousand rather than getting a return. To the IRS my taxes for that year was not fulfilled until i payed in full that $2000.

Thank you Nuestara Union for that valuable information!! So I went to the IRS location and asked them for my last 3 years transcripts, 2016 I was sinlgle, but 2015 and 2014 me and my Ex filled together! So to avoid any hassle/confusion  should I just send them the 2016 transcript I got from the IRS? Thank you again :)

No problem. And sorry for so many typos in my last post. I'm on my cell phone. Obviously you don't have "thongs" in your life affecting taxes. Maybe other things but not taxes.

Only 2016 is required to be sent. BUT if you have looked at the form I-864, you have to fill in your total income from 3 years of tax returns. So your numbers will have to be exactly as reported on your tax return, even if it was a joint return.  If you sent them in, they would at least know the presumable higher numbers came from joint income with a previous spouse.

A transcript is best.

Remember, if the transcript is of two people married filing jointly, then the details of the person actually sponsoring (w2s etc) will also be required.

This happened with me so i know for sure as the interviewing officer asked this.

If two people file jointly but one of them sponsors (Signs the affidavit), then it is that particular persons income and details is what the interviewing officer is interested in.
