Interesting Concept

Marketing company owner and New Boston Post contributor Kyle Reyes talked about his new Snowflake Test for prospective employees on Fox & Friends early Wednesday morning.

Reyes first described the Snowflake Test in a blog article on New Boston Post.

He told the show hosts that he got hundreds of applications to work for his company, The Silent Partner Marketing, after one of his videos went viral.

But the culture of his company and many of his clients is pro-American, pro-business, pro-cops, pro-guns, and he wanted to make sure that job applicants for his growing company would fit in.

In other words:  No snowflakes.

“I needed a filter to sort through all of that,” Reyes said.

One of the 30 questions on the test asks what “privilege” means to an applicant.

“I’m looking for people who are not entitled, who don’t have this sense that that they should just be handed things, but people who have that entrepreneurial mindset, who are willing to think outside the box, and who are willing to work for everything that they have,” Reyes said on Fox.

Another question on the test asks when the last time an applicant cried and why.

Excerpt of Test

Among those questions?

  • Outside of standard benefits, what benefits should a company offer employees?
  • What are your feelings about employees or clients carrying guns?
  • What are your feelings about safe spaces in challenging work environments?
  • Should “trigger warnings” be issued before we release content for clients or the company that might be    considered “controversial”?
  • How do you feel about police?
  • When was the last time you cried and why?
  • What are your thoughts on the current college environment as it pertains to a future workforce?
  • What does “faith” mean to you?
  • You see someone stepping on an American Flag. What happens next?

These guys are horrible. They are extremely desperate for money. They will try to charge you for things you don't need. I think they are having serious cash flow issues as they practically begging for money everywhere you look.

being an idiot always matters, eventually.

What may seem idiotic to you may not be idiotic to others.  I do have to say that by doing what he is doing, he is marketing his business to a fairly wide audience, and I suspect there are people out there that agree with him.  Now whether or not that materializes as actual business remains to be seen.

He's also alienating a fairly wide audience. A marketing no no. I think he's working around the old adage that any publicity is good publicity, however that is only true to an extent. Divisive and insulting rhetoric is usually where it fails.

im more interested in the answers they're looking for and what they think those answers mean. it's not smart to hire folks who never cry (acknowledge emotion), want to physically inact justice on a person they perceive as disrespecting cops/flag/murica AND carry their gun to work. just, dumb.

Since I launched this “filtering” process, if you will, I’ve gotten a tremendous amount of whining from the general public.

I was scolded by a woman on the phone yesterday who told me she wouldn’t take the test and “shame” on me for making people take a test to come work for us.  She “demanded” I remove the test or risk losing out on “perfect employees” like herself.

Bummer.

Well, snowflake, it’s back to the heaping pile of applications for me.

Most people don't want to work for a control freak. Looking at their Youtube clips, I don't think they have all that many employees anyway.  It looks like this is a marketing guy doing a little marketing for his own company. I'm sure he's getting the attention he wanted now, which was probably the intent all along.
