I actually stepped away a bit because I was making myself crazy reading so many different opinions on things for the next steps and seeing so many people still waiting and running across threads on AP :o  Time has been going faster for me the less I've obsessed, but I think it will be harder to stay away when approvals for March eventually start rolling in

Yeah I think that's what is happening with me. My fiance laughs at me cus I will tell him "well on the forum they said this and that and blah blah" He's so clueless when it comes to the process and is always so positive and chipper about the whole thing because he has no idea how long so many people are waiting. He was shocked when I told him there are thousands of apps per month, he said "wow, that many people really fall in love with foreigners? I thought we were special!" :D haha. So yeah I think I will step away a bit until mid-late June at least when hopefully March approvals start coming in. It will probably do me some good and help me be much more productive with work and school anyway!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Hello everyone, joining a little late to the thread but we applied back in March as well.

Noa1 was dated March 15, anxiously waiting like the rest of you. My fiancée will visit again 2nd week of June and hopefully that will be a relief from all this stress. We are hoping that we will get an update while she is here since she won't leave until late June.

God speed =)

Yeah, my hard copy said received date is the 4th and NOA date is the 7th. I know it's not intentional... you are just one person and doing an amazing job at helping everyone you can regardless =) I don't know how you do it though!

In fact, what you are planning is not allowed for this type of visa. You'll end up being too married for K-1 and not married enough for the spousal visa, you might be accused of visa fraud and denied entry or AOS.

Of course, it's up to you, you might be lucky and get away with it, but I would recommend reading this:

Hi @Eric&Olya.

i should've been clearer when I said that we were getting married in November in Brazil. We aren't getting legally married in here. Just the religious ceremony will be held in here. I'll still have the one in a courthouse in the US after we get our k1. But thanks for your concern!

I read the thread you attached to it and it's just like my situation. I honestly hope to get the Visa before November when the ceremony will be held. I can't just cancel everything. I will do a better research about the topic but thanks for bringing it up!

Once again, the decision is yours. But if you read that thread carefully and maybe search for more information, you will see that people have had problems even after getting the visa. I don't have any statistics, maybe the majority of those who had a wedding before entering the US managed to do it without any complications but technically they were breaking immigration laws. I wouldn't risk it, because even if one applies for a spousal visa after messing up K-1, they will still have this record of attempting fraud, and may never be allowed into the States. Well, it's not the end of the world, they can always settle down in the beneficiary's country but for me it would be such a waste of time and money that no ceremony would outweigh it. Even if the chance of being caught was 5%, I wouldn't risk it, but that's just me:)

I understand your point completely.

I talked to one of the girls from Brazil who did the same as I am planning to do. She advised me to email the American embassy in here and double check with them. If they say it's okay, I'll print it out as a proof to carry with me.

Once again, thanks for sharing it in here.
