Obviously walls ''work'' It even says so there. But it also points many factors that are part of it, and better ways to implement border security. 

I'm all up for legal immigration. I am also not liberal. I don't care for Hillary or Obama. I don't attack people who vote for Trump, I understand they have their reasons, but that man truly scares me. I just try to keep an open mind and fully grasp what's going on. 

But everything seems to point that a wall isn't as effective as people hope it will be. It's a waste of a lot of money, that could be used somewhere else, for a better cause.

Actually, the Korean DMZ has led to an explosion of business and capitalism in the ROK, so it did work keeping the socialist economic system out.  When the DMZ was erected, the DPRK was actually the much more prosperous country, so to say the DMZ has led to the impoverishment of the people of the DPRK is just wrong, the fact that they destroyed an prosperous economy through a socialistic economic system is much more the root cause.

I think when most of us say walL, Trump included we don't necessarily mean a 30 ft high structure all the way across the southern border.  Maybe a wall in some places, maybe more electronic sensors in others with more patrols.  Regardless a much less permeable border combined with policies that punish those that hire them. 

 

Combined with a sensible controllable guest worker/visa path. With zero tolerance for illegals. 

Don't you know that only "progressives" can use symbolism, we have to take every word a conservative says literally.

  Are you saying the wall is symbolic? Because Trump has been quite literal in his description of it.

According to M-W, the word "wall" has several meanings and not all of them are in reference to an actual physical structure.  Here is one example.

The wall alone is not enough....it just makes the rest of the monitoring so much easier and effective. Don't forget that the wall will pay for itself....even if Mexico doesn't....just by reducing the cost we already pay to support illegal aliens. It's a no Brainer when you look at it financially.  Think of the billions we spend on bringing refugees here....some of which want to kill us.
