Yes  but I'm sure that before the end of next week, that part of the EO will be reformed. This Executive Order was clearly rushed and not well thought out at all.

The EO actually is illegal, it goes against a 1965 congressional law barring discrimination against immigrants based on national origin. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/27/opinion/trumps-immigration-ban-is-illegal.html

 

So there is hope... unless Trump does what he is wanting to do and actually bans Muslims (the law does not protect discrimination based on religion). I would put nothing past this guy...

Most of the aspects of the EO seem very illegal. 

 

The only thing that's maybe legal is stopping the refugee process. Obama did something similar I believe.

Well according to the mayor of NYC, wording is vague and challengable.  Some question if it was purposely done that way to make it look like things are happening when they really are not.

So Trump can turn around and say "I never meant LPR's to be included in the EO"? Possibly....easy scapegoat.

My fiance is currently in Saudi Arabia but is a citizen of the Philippines (and will be traveling to the US from the Philippines once her K-1 is issued). She will be having her interview in the Riyadh embassy.

 

I know SA isn't on the list of countries affected by the ban, but if it were, would there be any impact? More precisely, if somebody plans to interview at an embassy in one of the banned countries but is not a citizen of a banned country, what impacts would the EO have on their case?

By various means and rules . . . any and all persons (any type of visa holders and green card holders) can be denied entry into USA . . . except citizens of USA.

My Yemeni husband was issued a visa on Thursday, the day before this Order was signed No words can describe how it feels to be targeted like this for absolutely no reason. You can all sigh in relief if you like, but I do not wish this feeling on anyone. Truly crushed.

Yes, but they only be denied for certain reasons. They can't deny somebody because they are a certain gender, religion, nationality, etc. They can deny them because of a reasonable suspicion of a risk to national security, or that they are going to violate US laws, etc. By law, a visa cannot knowingly be issued to anybody who is inadmissible to obtain and use it. CBP can find a reason for inadmissibility given current laws (i.e. if they suspect it will be used beyond the visa's terms, or evidence found at POE indicates it was obtained or is being used via fraud), but they cannot add new visa requirements.

 

"...no person shall receive any preference or priority or be discriminated against in the issuance of an immigrant visa because of the person’s race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence. "

That said, it only applies to immigrant visas. I would assume LPRs are covered under even more strict laws banning discrimination based on those circumstances.
