Well it's been 2 years already... one more and 3.... and it will be 3 because think about it: in the best case scenario we will get the noid in march (when we go see the officer, not just to infopass), reply in April, then hopefully I-130 will be approved in 2-3 months.... which is July... then I'll have to wait for the notice to do my biometrics and medical again, who knows when it will be send, lets say in 2-3 months... which is October. Then a month to do all that, send it back to them, they will get it in November.... then give them 2-3 months to work on it, and here is march 2018. We filed in march 2015. 3 years if everything goes fine from now one.... I can't believe this, all this just really ruins our lives. I know other people have it even worse, but many get their GC in 4-5 months after filing. There is no reason why shouldn't we. But no we are not going to file the wom just yet.

By specific list you mean the list of the things they ask us to provide in the NOID? So you also think we should send more?

i will be potite and quiet, I'll try my best. I understand it's their job, it's not those officers fault.

If you take yourself out of the equation and see it from a non biased standpoint, you guys timeline is really sketchy. Then again, so was ours. However I advise you not to see it as ruining your life. You are getting a chance to reply to the NOID once it shows up. You have not been put into removal. You are together and you have legal work rights as of now. You can afford a lawyer, which many can not.

 

There is a reason why this is happening to you, you just are unaware of it. Just like there was a reason my spouse got put into removal, it was our fault because of our poor choices in the beginning. If you start to break up the dates and estimate times like that you will drive yourself insane. Step by step. Don't think about all of it just think about the first thing you can do only, get it done, then onto the next.

Just a reminder : You filed April 2015. We filed May 2015. My husband has no GC yet either, interview was 4 months ago.
We made one service request. I am not freaking out. Looking forward to having skipped ROC as he will receive a 10 yr GC,

lots of hassle and hundreds of dollars saved.

Thank you for the advice... I just do that because I'm trying to plan our live and it really depends on those dates... we have a pretty big debt because of all that, so I wouldn't say that we "can" afford the lawyer. My family is going nuts, my husband never even met them because we are afraid to travel on ap (what if aos is denied when we are out of the country, who knows), so we are trapped here... I need to go to school but out of state fees are crazy... I could have started long time ago but it have to postpone it. Just study on my own for now, oh well. So stuff like that. But yeah like I said I understand that our situation is not the worst one out there. Do you mind sharing what poor choices you made that caused your husband to be put into removal? I'm very happy at least this is over for you guys, can't even imagine how stressful it was.

Uscis received our package on March 10 2015. But yeah I remember your story, I'm thinking of you and your attitude when I'm having nervous break downs lol because your husband arrived on k-1 and I think it's especially crazy that it's taking this long when someone arrived on k-1.

We just thought we had time to wait and file. So we waited like 4-5mo, but he was an overstay from the Disney college program and in hindsight I should have known there was some entry exit reporting thing for that visa type. And letting the ex know he had moved on was also a bad idea. Really, avoid exs at all cost in all ways if able. We should have been on top of things from day one and instead we had to liquidate our honeymoon fund to pay a lawyer. We have been in this since December 2014, and at this point I only worry over his legal right to work anymore. Other stuff will fall in place somehow.

And yes the stress. We were constantly fighting and our marriage was going under because I obsessed over immigration. I had to let it go and just live the best we could with what we have now. We are together and that's enough for me

Our K1 visa journey without AOS, just from filing to POE took about 5 years.

We are also waiting for hubby to go to school, to travel and see his parents he has not seen in 8 years.

There is so much to be grateful for.....we are finally together under one roof enjoying our lives.

Do you work at all?  Just curious because you say you NEED to go to school, but school is a pretty optional thing. And that you're in a pretty big debt now, but if it's just you and your husband you should be able to work your butt off to make sure you aren't falling into debt.


Also, until you are clear from USCIS for at least getting your green card, I wouldn't plan anything. Planning things like that and trying to figure out when USCIS is going to do their stuff is only going to lead to disappointment on everyones end. It's best just to worry about school and meeting the family if you want until AFTER it's been AOS'd. Focusing on those things and wanting them ASAP is just going to be extra stress imo.

Try to live your life as if immigration doesn't exist when you can't do anything about it. If there's literally NOTHING you can do right now, just schedule days to go see USCIS, don't worry about it until those days and try to live your life with your husband as happy as you can.

You are right. Yes of course we both work, may be I should have used "want", I agree. I work at least 50 hrs a week on two jobs and my husband works a lot too. But the sooner I go to school the sooner I'll start making more money and the sooner we will be able to pay off the debt and just have a better life in general.

I think it's pretty clear that "They are doing all this to you" because they have doubts about your relationship.  They are likely under the assumption that you are hiding something.  There is something missing and they are looking for that missing piece of the puzzle.  Stop thinking there is some kind of conspiracy in your case.  Focus on what you need to do.

This is nuts! I haven't seen my family in 9 years, but I can't blame uscis for that though, most of it was my fault. Not sure what poe is, so you were separated for 5 years? Wow.... yeah, I'm very thankful we didn't go through this...

POE = Point of Entry, his arrival.

 

No sense in worrying over what you can't change unless you enjoy stress to deteriorating your heath.
Think gratitude for what you have and detach from the emotions that this process is trying to do you in with.
Then focus on facts and resolve them. Stop the what if merry-go-round.
