Good evening everyone :star:

I have my POE on March 1st and entering on a K1 Fiance Visa. With my beloved we would like to book the plane tickets however the question we both wanted to be answered was , there is the "extreme vetting" going on after January 20th and we were wondering if 4 hours of layover would be enough to go through the customs at the border ? I'm too hesitant booking the previous flight with only one hour and 15 minutes of layover because i'm dying from being with my fiancée but i would not risk missing my next flight.

Thanks to the POE review on here , we know that the process can take about 20 minutes ( but could be longer with the queue).

Thanks in advance for the different answers and helping us to shine the light on us.

From France? I don't think you would get held up too much honestly. If you were froma MENA country, yea maybe.

We don't know what the affects so to say will be after January 20th on something like POE's... but I would say 4 hours should be fine.

Where will you be entering at? That also could determine if that is adequate time because all airports vary in how fast they process people and how busy they are.

Definately don't do the 1 1/2 hour layover, thats just not enough time. Again 4 hours should be okay.

Oh absolutely , I have totally forgot to mention where  My POE will be in Atlanta. Last time I landed in that airport was actually not very long despite the queue was really long , I think between 15-20 beween landing and going through security. The new "extreme" vetting/ or entry visa is something new, I thought it could be delaying a little bit the normal "20 minutes more or less process ".

Have you checked the reviews for the Atlanta airport for POE? Could help abit; but yea with the new presidency and all, will the checks and such get longer? We don't know. Perhaps it won't be affected at all because you already have the visa (I assume).

But 4 hours seems do able.

There is no new "extreme vetting".

A four hour layover will be more than adequate.

I believe the OP is concerned about any delays during POE because of Trump becoming president; but, the main "extreme" or extra vetting would be about approving visa's in general to people (primarily as I have understood from most of Trump's speeches would be from MENA countries)

Absolutely , I have checked the different opinions over the length ( of course it can depends on many factors such as the hour of the day, the number of people and how many custom officers ) so I guess I will go for the 4 hours layover just in case and Atlanta is not classifed as being one of the slowest airport nationwide. With my fiancée we got approved :) I'm assuming that many more questions may be asked in the near future. The extreme vetting will surely exist as soon as possible after January 20th , if it is a way to protect the border and the nation , i'm more than ready to wait 4 hours in Atlanta

I think you'll be fine. You already have the visa, and from a country like France should not be any issue.

Good luck on your journey.

My sister came to visit and her POE was Atlanta, she has 1hr45m to get to her Nashville flight and she made it in time. According to her it went really fast but never relay too much on POE reviews. Every person is different, of course or the CBP officer. You should be through within an hour is my guess but always choose 3-4 hours, even if it's because considering a delay in Paris.

But say landing time in 1 PM and 20 minutes to just taxi in and then how much longer to actually unload?

changing to a domestic flight In Miami I had to pick up your luggage and recheck it / i know as i did several from South America / same as when i flew into Chicago from Gatar

so, yes, give yourself plenty of time say 3 and 1/2 to 4 hours is good

better to wait in airport for next plane than in line to change tickets as you missed a plane

I will assume you are coming into a norhtern airport as it says Michigan here on your profile

our worse snow storms in the US can come in the spring even March 17th in the south in 1992 we got 24 inches so allow for weather always and if weather is good than no problem

you will be early and good- to-go

No vetting will occur. Your entry will be like any other K1 coming through. Your presumptions are based on false media hysterics that as of know are completely and utterly unfounded. You will be absolutely without a doubt fine. Good Luck!

Thank you for all the experience ya'll  This is greatly appreciated.

This is so right , sometimes a short layover can be enough , we can make it through the airport easily ,the customs isn't slow and finding the gate isn't a big deal either. Now I agree , it can depends on so many things, we can't be certain of how many international flights are landing the same hour , or another weather problem can occur, better wait than nothing :)

kris&me

Yes I want to believe that snow can be a little problem when it comes to take a plane. I had this kind of experience when I landed in DTW the previous time but the snow add more charm :D

It might be occuring , you are right to say that all my questions are only based on what I hear from one video about Trump or the media in general. There is so much to do that we can't be sure things can happen even if I'm flying more than a month after he is officially the president. I wanted to reduce my anxiety by booking a flight with a longer delay than missing my flight IF there was a new vetting or process for new immigrants.
