Hello…Adjustment of Status…Request letter received

Forum newbie here looking for help. I would first like to say thanks to VJ and it's members in their effort helping others resolve visa/immigration issues. The VJ website has been a useful tool for me understanding the visa/immigration process.

My Thai wife and I submitted her Adjustment of Status application and received a "Request for Initial Evidence" letter from USCIS. They are requesting a copy of her birth certificate and an English translation. We sent USCIS her birth certificate and English translation when we mailed our I-485 application. It was translated by an accredited translator including the translator's stamp on the translation document. Is it possible they lost the documents? Do they have the birth certificate and translation but are not accepting it?

Any advice or insight from members that have had the same experience is greatly appreciated.

Yes it is possible they lost it. Happens quite often.

Yes, it's possible they lost it.

That being said, send them another copy and another translation, and perhaps a note stating that this was already included the first time around.

Sadly, they lose documents all the time...... please fill out your time line.

After I received the request letter, I had a 2nd translation done on the birth certificate here in the USA. The translation was the same but the 2nd translation came with an affidavit from the translator. Wondering if it would be beneficial to send USCIS both translations with the birth certificate or would it confuse them?
