I realize it is a bit of a pipe dream to wish that the IRS would investigate this in a non-partisan fashion, but who knows. Maybe if Hillary loses...

The fact is that as many people pondered, the Clinton money is closely tied to the foundation they set up.

Two chief fundraisers for the Clinton Foundation pressed corporate donors to steer business opportunities to former President Bill Clinton as well, according to a hacked memo published Wednesday by WikiLeaks.

The November 2011 memo from Douglas Band, at the time a top aide to Mr. Clinton, outlines extensive fundraising efforts that Mr. Band and a partner deployed on behalf of the Clinton Foundation and how that work sometimes translated into large speaking fees and other paid work for Mr. Clinton.

The memo, part of a cache of emails stolen from Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clintons campaign manager, resurfaces an issue that she has had a hard time shaking: questions over the relationship between the Clintons charity work and their personal business.

Mr. Band and an associate introduced top corporate executives to the former president, on the golf course and elsewhere, and then asked them to contribute money to the Clinton Foundation or attend the Clinton Global Initiative, an annual foundation event.

Buried in the WikiLeaks dumps is at least one important lesson for Hillary Clinton: If she wins the White House, her family needs to freeze out Doug Band.

Band got his start as a humble aide in the Bill Clinton White House, then went on to head the Clinton Foundation before co-founding fixer firm Teneo Holdings LLC.

A previous Wikidump showed Band complaining about interference from spoiled brat Chelsea Clinton, and last weeks release confirms that Chelsea was right.

Bill Clinton and Doug BandPhoto: Robert A. Cumins/Corbis

In an email during his days at the foundation, Band whines that hes banned from pocketing cash and expensive gifts from Clinton Global Initiative donors, while Bill Clinton gets to do it all the time. No, hes not criticizing Bill hes complaining that he himself doesnt get to cash in while serving on the board of a nonprofit.

Hah: Band used contacts made in that job to form the core of Teneos business hes doing quite well now, all thanks to the Clintons.

Now consider the interference from Chelsea that annoyed Band for example, an email warning shed heard Band had used Bills name with members of the British Parliament in order to advance Teneo clients. She was worried such sleaze might cause trouble for her moms presidential run.

Yeah, I know that charities are a good thing and wealthy people around the globe think they are actually helping somehow, and some do, don't get me wrong....but I miss the days when the robber barons went around building museums, libraries and universities.

If the money is actually invested into a physical thing it's kind of harder to launder it through some nebulous charitable action. The tax system in the US needs an overhaul, as we know Trump used the same loopholes the Clinton's did...it's really unfair. No single candidate has proposed a fix-all solution. I guess the Clintons' use of a foundation in the name of good works as a convenient way to bolster their image and avoid taxes at the same time is slightly more despicable than Trump's purely self-motivated businessman greed. But yeah....donating to the poor to wash away your sins is kind of an age old practice. The bigger the charity, maybe, the bigger the sins? :content:

Is it the sort of people the Clinton's surround themselves with, or are these people corrupted because they come into contact with the Clinton's? I love chicken/egg pondering.

Usually in large organizations, there can be deviance at the top where there's less accountability. As Paul Feldman's "bagel experiment" showed us.

It was my experience during the 41 plus years that I worked for the IRS that everything was done in a non-partisan fashion. Of course I did not work in the division that supposedly inappropriately targeted conservative groups that were seeking tax-exempt status.

Does it bother you as a long-term IRS agent that someone like Lois Lerner can do things that put a stain on the entire organization? I know many people felt fear when dealing with the IRS, but I think most of them felt they were at least fair.

Lerner, the IRS's former director of Exempt Organizations, is the key figure in the controversy over how the agency treated conservative groups seeking tax exemptions. Lerner admitted at a legal conference last year that the agency improperly subjected groups to added scrutiny only because they had the words "tea party" or "patriots" in their names. She originally attributed the actions to low-level workers in Cincinnati, but those workers have since told congressional investigators that they were acting on orders from Washington.

No, it doesn't bother me. It is the IRS' job to target those taxpayers who they think aren't complying with the tax laws.

Hmm, Lois Lerner didn't mention any left wing groups when she was speaking. Maybe she was just trying to impress her left wing friends.

Thanks. I thought that the NY Times had broken an article about it exposing something or other about Trump's tax breaks?

How a Simple Tax Rule Let Donald Trump Turn a $916 Million Loss Into a Plus

If someone could clarify this, that'd be great.
