I am about to file my I-864 form but I am living overseas with my husband in Taiwan and have no evidence of a domicile in US. We are planning to rent an apartment upon arrival when my husband gets his visa and both can go back to the US. There is no way to prove that yet. I have no evidence that I am going back since I came straight to Taiwan after graduating high school so I didn’t have no bank accounts, no properties nothing since I was depending on my family. Since I moved to Taiwan I’ve never filed a tax return but my sister will be the joint sponsor. I would like to know what other evidence I could use for my situation since I have no nothing to prove for a domicile. In the instructions it states that i can send proof of "a foreign government has authorized a temporary stay" can my Taiwan resident card be used as evidence under this? Any information may help thank you

Does your family still live in the US? They might be able to help you out with some things if so. For example, you sister could add you to her US bank account.

Of course you'll need your SSN, state ID, passport....some kind of proof of identity. It varies a lot by bank. Your sister will have to call her bank and find out what's needed.

You can also apply to jobs in the US, getting a job offer is even better.

Since you haven't filed taxes, you also have to address that. You need to provide a letter explaining why you haven't filed. If it was due to low income/unemployment, you're fine with just an explanation letter. If you actually worked and owe taxes, you'll need to file your back taxes.

How do you plan to rent an apartment with no credit history? I'm assuming no bank account = no credit history. Seems like it could be complicated. Maybe your sister can write a letter saying she'll co-sign for your to rent a place, for example. Think of various things you family can help you do/provide for you, and collect stuff like job applications, resumes in English/US format, etc that can show you are planning to return to the US.

Is it possible to open an account without an ID merely online when you live abroad? My sister was living abroad and had to actually physically be in the States to open an account, she didn't manage to do it from abroad.

Is it possible to open an account without an ID merely online when you live abroad? My sister was living abroad and had to actually physically be in the States to open an account, she didn't manage to do it from abroad.

I don't know but I would try and call them and see. I do think she has to be there.

I just don't see the idea of her being added to her sisters account also in the future when she gets here.

The best for OP would be to go back for a visit and get some of her things in order seems like there is a lot she need to do.

I would ask my sister to call her bank and yea I've been unemployed and I will live with my sister for a few days and later rent a apartment with a friend. i could apply to some jobs that sounds like something more easy thank you

Not living in the US is not a valid excuse for not filing taxes.

You need to do some things here instead of just saying I'm not there bla bla.... you need to show your intent of living in the US.

Well been unemployed is an excuse because my in-laws provide me with everything so I dont work so it means i dont need to do my taxes

Thank You

I registered to vote overseas plus all my family is still in USA and I use my fathers address to receive mail. I filed directly at the embassy in August and my husband petition and visa have been approved but I've also been here less time than you I don't know if it matters or not

Don't worry about it, some people are just unfamiliar with the domicile process and American tax system. I think I had maybe one year of income taxes filed when we went for domicile and I had had none it wouldn't have been a problem.

Your sister could draw up a lease for you to live with her for that short time period.

If you are shipping things back, shipping quotes can also be used.

I don't know how long you have been away, but do you still have a valid US driver's license?

I don't see a problem with you being added to your sister's account. It isn't the most conventional way to do a bank account, but not abnormal by any means. I'm actually joint on a relative's accounts as well.

Usually these sort of things are enough unless you are Canadian and then it is tougher.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
