What would you like to know? This question comes up very often here and if you search you will find many topics.

You will also find that it is depends on the circumstances of the child being adopted. You can certaonly adopt in Pakistan but that does not mean that the child that was adopted is eligible to immigrate to the US.

The child would have to be an orphan (meaning BOTH parents are deceased) or extreme abandonement.

Also, the adoption must be completed before that child turns 16.

Also, the adopting USCs may require to live in the child's country (Pakistan) for a period of two years prior to immigrating to the US.

Any experiences with Adoption from Pakistan by US citizen?

OK, my other half is white American USC. I was born and raised in Pakistan and I am Green card holder.

I don't think there is any such solid requirement you mentioned in last point.

And yes, we want full adoption. No guardianship. We want to have a sibling for my son.

We prefer to have new born that comes to Edhi jhoola. But there is no way we can stay in Pakistan for extended period of time, for obvious work reasons.

Adoptions in Pakistan are technically "Guardianship"

 

However, the US can give an IR-4 visa to the child, which will allow the adoption process to be formalized in the US.  Basically, they take the Pakistani guardianship decree (made under the Guardian of Wards Act, 1890) as a prerequisite for the formal adoption in the US.

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
