Hey all,

Our I-129F was received 10/18/2016 and sent to California for processing, I received the text/email and can check the status online. I still did not receive the receipt hard copy in the mail as yet. I know it's a waiting game at this point. Good luck everyone.

You'll probably receive the hard copy soon. It took about a week from my NOA1 date. In any event, you have your receipt number and can track it online. Good luck and...enjoy the wait. :clock:

Hi all! First post here...

Congrats to whoever received their approval within 21 days - that's amazing!

We sent in the petition to the Dallas Lockbox on Oct 10

Received Electronic NOA1 on Oct 22

Received Hardcopy of NOA1 on Oct 27.

Adjudication date is estimated at Nov 27 - Dec 1.

Question: My fiancé (the petitioner) might be out of the country when the NOA2 arrives. Do we get an electronic notification first? Is the hardcopy of the NOA2 essential for the next step? What do we need to do once the hardcopy is received? All this assuming we won't have RFE's (crosses fingers).

Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone!

Hi, and welcome!

When you got the NOA1 they gave you a number and you can track the status of your case online on the USCIS website. You might also get a text/email notification when it's approved but they don't always send it for some reason. The hardcopy of the NOA2 is important because they will ask for it when you file for AOS.

After you receive the hardcopy, your case is sent to the NVC, which will send it to the embassy. The petitioner needs to gather the documents needed for the I-134 (affidavit of support) as soon as you receive the NOA2 and send them to you, because you'll need them for the interview. Also another letter of intent to marry.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Thank you so much! This is very helpful.

He will actually be visiting me in December, so he'll be able to give me all the necessary i-134 documents and intent to marry form then. I was just curious about whether I would need the hardcopy of the NOA2 for my interview at the embassy eventually. I was also just concerned that he wouldn't be there to receive it in person until January, but if it's only really necessary for AOS then it's not the end of the world.

Thank you for your help!
