Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 25, 2017
Embassy Review : We waited a few months for the interview so that my Fiance can go with me. My interview was last February 15, 2017 scheduled at 6:45am. We arrived at roxas blvd too early so we ate breakfast first at Yellow Cab. we also parked our car there. It was a 5 to 10 mins walk to the US Embassy entrance. And so at around 6:15am we started walking towards the USEM. We didn't had to fall in line, the guard told us to proceed and prepare my passport and DS 160 confirmation page. These are the two things that you will be holding on to the rest of the process. We didnt bring any gadgets nor bags, just our documents. So when inside, there are lots of employees to assist you where to go and where to sit.

And so, here it is!

It was my turn on the filipino employee, he asked for my documents, cenomar, nso birth certificate, SLEC envelope, passport and ds-160 confirmation page. He then asked for additional documents like the i-134 affidavit of support, my fiance's W2 for the year 2015 and 2016, and Form 1040 for 2015. It's still early 2017, so no tax return yet for 2016. He was very nice, he was joking the whole time! He asked how did I know my fiance, his work and how many time has he visited me here in the Philippines. Easy ones! And then he said that i could proceed to biometrics.

Next is the interview with the american consul. My fiance was more nervous than me! It looks like he's gonna faint right there! LOL!

So the american consul asked again how we met. How i knew my fiance. What city he lives in. What is his work. He also asked where Im going so I said Maryland. He didnt asked any documents from us just the ds 160 i think. And then he typed something on his computer for quite a long time and then he told us "Your case was too easy, you are approved!" He gave a phamplet about domestic violence, he jokingly said while referring to my fiance "if this guy hurt you in any way, you'll know what to do" and we were laughing with him! We are good to go after that. I have already assigned a delivery address online after i filled out my ds160. So i didn't need the small paper with instructions on how to assign a delivery address.

Important Reminders:
• Dress like you are going to a job interview. I was dressed in a corporate attire, suit and high heels. It's up to you, depending on your profession. I am in the corporate industry so I chose to dress in a corporate attire. I saw some wearing jeans and Fitflops, please don't wear those! First impressions are important!

• Always smile, make sure to greet everyone in there! It wouldnt hurt and it will also help with the nerves when you are speaking from time to time.

• Make sure that everything in your DS 160 is correct, if you need to change something, please do so BEFORE going to the interview so as not to cause any delay. You can't access your DS 160 form in the embassy. They cannot edit it either. You'll have to go out, edit it and be back and fall in line AGAIN.

• As long as you're relationship is legit, you should not have any problems. Whether you are with your fiance or not while the interview, it is okay as long as everything you say is true. Do not LIE!

• And oh, do not eavesdrop on others' interview. It will just make you more nervous. My fiance was eavesdropping the whole time and it didnt help!

PS. I think, the reason why the american consul told us our case was too easy was because both of us had no previous marriages and we dont have any children. But if your case is different from ours, still you do not habe to worry as long as again, your relationship is LEGIT! Just prepare all the documents you need and you are good to go!

Good luck to you to whoever is reading this! I hope i helped you! Previous reviews helped me a lot in picturing the actual interview to the point when its time for my interview, i already know what to expect. Again, i hope i was able to YOU and good luck to YOU! ❤😍😊
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
