Here is the issue:

I have a friend who met his wife online. After about a year of collaboration they decided to meet. So she went to visit him in Gambia. They became closer and decided they wanted move forward with their relationship and get married. So she returned to the US to prepare. She returned to Gambia where they got married. Afterwards she returned to US to start the CR1 visa process. The CR1 visa was approved. So they got around to paying the visa fee. He agreed to pay half of the visa fee and she was suppose to pay the other half. He sent his half to her and after that she just dissappeared. She won't return phone calls from him or family. She blocked him from her facebook, just basically separating herself altogether. He even ask her to divorce she still will not respond. This can't be about stealing money.

So my questions tips are:

Can he continue this process with the aid of an immigration lawyer?

What can he do if anything?

Absolutely nothing. He should get a divorce in his country.

Seems like 1/2 of the "visa fee" is a small amount compared to what had to be paid in the beginning with a CR-1 application.

Since his visa was approved, he can come to the U.S., but....why? His wife won't be waiting for him and he'll have no place to live. He'd have to leave in 2 years, because he wouldn't be able to fulfill Removal of Conditions requirements.

Has the visa fee been paid? Sounds like no.

So, best thing to do is to just go on with his life there. Divorce papers will probably be in the mail to him.
