Question, With the letter we recvd from USCIS, can I travel out of the country?

Yes, we have done so twice now, with no problems either time. We have carried both the expired GC and the extension letter -- each time the CBP agent has looked at both.

Married in the US in April of 2014

Filed for AOS from H-1B early May 2014

Interviewed in mid-July

Received our conditional green card postmarked July 23, 2014

Removal of Conditions

04/25/2016 - package mailed to VSC via USPS 2-day Priority

04/28/2016 - package delivery confirmed

06/03/2016 - received biometrics appointment notice (letter dated 05/28/2016 / envelope postmarked 05/31/2016)

06/14/2016 - biometrics completed

04/13/2017 - APPROVED!

04/19/2017 - received NOA2 approval notice (letter dated 04/13/2017 / envelope postmarked 04/17/2017)

My husband travels frequently with expired GC & letter. We're traveling together now back from Brazil and he was just taken in to "be processed" whatever the hell that means. This is the first time it's happened. And I'm outside in the baggage area. Can't wait til we can apply for citizenship and be done with this BS.

So basically they put his documents in an envelope and he had to go wait in a separate room. Probably that same room where you go the first time you enter on a immigration visa. I was told to wait in baggage area. Then they called him up (fairly quickly luckily, he said there were LOTS of people in the room), looked quickly at his stuff, stamped his passport and let him go. Whole thing took an extra 10 minutes or so.

This was at JFK airport. He usually flies through ATL. Maybe there is a difference? I mean he's gone in and out of the country at least five times since his GC expired.

Wonder if that is SOP at JFK? Next time we come through, it will be JFK. Good to know what MIGHT happen, so I can tell my Aussie spouse what to expect so she doesn't totally freak out!

May be another couple of months if they have Feb and March to process those of us who filed early April 2016 should expect to see some movement end of October early November.

Great to see things are progressing though.

Hang in there guys! :dancing:

They always do that to me in ATL. Every single time I've entered the country, they send me to that room to be processed, although my husband always goes with me into the room. The first time it happened, I was freaking out. After that, I was kind of expecting it, but it's still aggravating.

Hopefully, once my conditions are removed, it will stop happening? *crosses fingers *

It seems VSC is still super slooooow. I checked and the ones starting to get approvals from that service center are the September 2015 filers. Good grief! So those of us who had to apply there still have a long wait ahead of us. :clock:

January 2016 applicants (CSC) are 66% done. February 2016 applications are also getting approved quickly. It still looks like a 7 month wait for CSC. That means November for us. VSC is another story though...I wonder why they are so far behind?
