Donald Trump is making a bold prediction about black voters.

In an interview airing Sunday on Fox’s “Media Buzz,” Trump told me there is already great affection for him in the black community.

“Look, the African Americans love me because they know I am going to bring back jobs,” he told me at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.

Okay, a pretty standard Trumpian boast. But then he said this:

“They are going to like me better than they like Obama. The truth is Obama has done nothing for them.”

The statement was so audacious that it took me a split-second to react.

“Did you just say,” I interrupted, “African-Americans are going to like you better than the first African-American president.”

The billionaire didn’t back off.

“I think that relatively speaking - I mean he does have a slight advantage in all fairness- but I think relatively speaking when I am finished I think they will absolutely love Donald Trump,” he said.

Keep in mind that most blacks routinely vote for Democrats. Ronald Reagan once got 14 percent of the African-American vote and it was considered a triumph.

There was one poll last fall that showed Trump with 25 percent support among blacks, but it would be a shocker if those numbers held up.

In the interview, Trump told me he has cut back his attacks on members of the media as losers and idiots because the press is treating him with more respect, mentioning the Wall Street Journal editorial page and a recent Time cover story.

Soon after we wrapped the interview, though, National Review attacked Trump as a menace to American conservatism, and he responded by calling it a failing publication with little influence. It was as if things had suddenly returned to normal.

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Shocker to who? Him? Most people like him are still in shock that Trump is still in the race. Trump has charisma and personality.

He isn't ultra rich and appears to truly believe--not just lip service--about redistribution of wealth and increasing government coverage outside of elite circles.

so he's the best choice for the majority of us, whatever color.

Possibly. I wish he wasn't quite so partisan. But most politicians are these days.

i'm sure they faired a hell of a lot better than they would have with mitt. or mccain.

Objectively, probably. The only real feather in obama's cap I keep coming back to, other than not getting into another stupid war (a big one), is health care overhaul which was better than nothing, but has, at least, immeasurably helped people who couldn't previously get health insurance due to preexisting conditions. Health care is still in massive need of reform, and not in the way republicans want (abolishing obamacare and going back to how things were).

i knew i was behind bernie over hillary based on one point alone. he didn't vote to go into iraq. hillary not only voted to go into iraq - she said she'd make the same decision if given a do over. nope. i want a president with a spine.

obama has done as well as any politician towing a party line could do, i think. but obamacare is a bandaid on a hemorrhaging jugular. single payer is what we need, hillary bashes single payer. we need money out of politics - hillary wouldn't be here if it was. all of the reform bernie proposes for wall street we need quickly, now - in order to reverse this money grab (and the media has us fighting over a non existant gun grab, lol) hillary is cool with glass-stegall. she's more of the same. personally i think this 'middle of the road' nonsense isn't doing anyone any good. conservatives might be scared to death of terms like 'wealth redistribution" but we're too top heavy as it is right now, anyone with a brain can see how unsustainable our current system is.

If I had married a diffrent girl 14 years ago I would not have gotten divorced. What a ridiculous argument that is .

you're right, that is a ridiculous argument on multiple levels. i'm not sure why you're arguing about it, with yourself no less.

I actually agree with every single point.

I am not really for Bernie so much as I am not partial to his socialism, but Hillary is a shill for her corporate paymasters. If he plans on personally this-is-Sparta-kicking the banksters out of high rise windows I will put a Bernie 2016 sticker on my car.

I also liked Obama for flaunting his minority view on the Iraq war. It was a catastrophe and any politician who maintains it was a good idea is a huge piece of garbage and should be summarily banned from Washington, D.C. Most voted for it and few seem to regret it.

So you believe in the redistribution of wealth? Never can I understand why some people, especially those on this website (or their family members) who profess a desire to come here or legalize their status, can profess such opposition to one of the reasons behind the founding of this country. SMH.
