We have voice command on ours too but it'####### and miss.

I was gonna go back and edit that but it's spelled properly and I still got censored. Hit and miss preceded by "it's" is a no no. Smh

Our use the voice command feature on Toyotas. It actually works quite well. I have it on my 2015 Highlander. I very rarely have to curse it , like I did SIRI

Cause Bubba would put a weight in the seat, then sue Toyota for millions and win after having a wreck

We've got voice command in our Edge too, but it's a crapshoot whether or not it ends up getting it right. I don't even bother with it anymore.

I thought about that same scenario of putting a weight on the seat.

My wife and I own a flower shop down here in Burlington Vermont...every once in a while when I'm not doing my usual trading(which I normally do out of the shop so I can help her with some things) or if it's a really busy holiday I'll do some of our deliveries. I have to say I will NEVER buy a car that won't allow me to use my GPS while moving. Now there's a difference between that and texting while driving, which I'll only do in extremely rare situations if I absolutely have to - but even then there's things you can do to be more cautious - like only a letter or two at a time, not do it while there's oncoming traffic, or at a curve, etc. Anyone who takes their eyes off the road for more than 1/3 of a second is a moron.

In Pinellas County you can't be pulled over sheerly for texting or talking on your cell phone. They have to find something else (ie: speeding, wreck less driving etc) to pull you over for before they can cite you for it. It's a shame.

that's how it used to be in virginia for not wearing seat belts, they couldn't pull you over for it but they could tack it on to another violation. imo, texting and driving is a pretty good example of reckless driving.

The only issue with putting a weight on the seat is it would also activate the passenger seatbelt warning. This goes off sometimes if I leave my iPhone on the passenger seat.

There are several, depending on your type of phone and what exactly you want it to do. I use "TextArrest" but if you google "save driving apps" or "safe driving for teens" you will get others

Thanks

In VT you still can't get pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, it's only a secondary offense. And I have to admit I take advantage of it and sin sometimes, if I'm not going far/not high speed .

And the ban of use of handheld electronic devices was actually only signed into law here a year and a half ago. Until then only texting was banned(which only passed in 2010), but then they thought hey. how do we know if they're really texting or are they just looking for a phone number to call? lol. Yes until a year and a half ago we were all able to just hold our phone up to our ear and talk.
