Hi everyone :) I have been a lurker here for the last few months here and haven't gotten any updates from USCIS about my AOS/EAD/AP application....until today. Got this message when I checked the status of my I-485 application via the USCIS website:

Card Was Mailed To Me

On March 15, 2016, we mailed your new card for Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXX, to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by April 14, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Does this mean my AOS/green card application was approved? I'm just confused because I always thought the EAD/AP application or card gets processed first. My EAD and AP application have no updates yet since Jan 4. I haven't received any RFEs or Interview notices, either.

Thank you for any thoughts you can share about my stuation, and congratulations to everyone who are done with the process! :)

So those of us with EAD/AP with interviews pending, is there such a thing as filing a service request for the interview date?

Is there a certain timeframe we have to be issued with an interview date for AOS or can this roll on for months and months, potentially?

I've seen some scary timelines of people still waiting for interviews over a year after filing for AOS. Particularly here in Texas!

That's true, unless a green card holder is planning or finds themselves out of the US for longer than a year and they don't want to lose their resident status. But if you are planning to reside in the US until you get US citizenship, (not including short trips outside the US) then you don't need an AP.

Thanks Amhara, after our interview at end of month, hoping everything goes well, we intend to head back to Singapore for our official tea ceremony. I've heard so much from others telling me that some customs might make things difficult for new green card holders, so I was concerned about it. Glad I got my answers now. Thanks alot guys!

I'm not sure if you can reschedule for other purposes but in my letter it says YOU MUST APPEAR FOR THIS INTERVIEW. Unless emergency such as illness, close relative's hospitalization, prevents you from appearing, call the number for rescheduling.

Hi guys,

I've been a lurker for a while now but I figured I would just update you guys. I petition for my father instead of a spouse, so it is not your typical marriage based petition. We shipped all the paperwork on Dec 23rd. On March 15th, we received notification that his permanent resident card had been approved and it was set for production. This came to a surprise as they hadn't even approved his work permit yet. We did not have an interview, nor was I expecting one, but I sure didn't expect his green card to be approved before the work permit.

It's worth mentioning that compared to my mother's timeline, which I applied for last year and it took nearly 9 months, less than 3 months is incredible. Not sure if its related to election year or what but they are definitely being very efficient recently.

Hope everyone's cases gets processed as quickly and efficiently as ours. Good luck!!

So I had gotten my EAD card a few weeks ago - including a type. Called the hotline and they said to do an infopass. Did an online service request instead and just got the answer to it in the mail (not email, I was so surprised) that I need to send the card back, including documentation of what my name is supposed to look like. Collected all that, made copies of everything else, sent it back to NBC, and now I get to wait again. Oh joy.

I never thought including a hyphen would be this troublesome, I really didnt... :-P

Hi everyone,

I've just had my i-485 case status updated to 'New Card Is Being Produced. n March 17, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXX'.

I received a request for a marriage certificate, which arrived at the USCIS address in Buffalo 10:30am last Friday (11th).

On a side note i requested a case update on my EAD applications when it hit 75 days but it's still showing as unassigned. I know a few people have had their case status update request remain unassigned so I'm guessing that they may put EAD/AP applications on hold if the Green Card is likely to be approved? If nothing else then it would free up time for USCIS to work on EAD/APs for people who may have to wait longer for their GCs and are more in need.

Also does anyone else know how long it takes to receive the Green Card once it's produced/mailed out?

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

Gosh - you make our name change issues look like small beans! I was hoping ours was close to a finale as the State mailed his background check to the family court on March 10th. However, the court is saying they haven't received it yet...

We applied for this SSN on Monday, so we are hoping to get the card this week. We really need it on or before March 22nd, this Tuesday so we don't need to make a sixth trip to the DMV as his driving test is on Wednesday morning. I hope April brings us immigration calm!!

Btw, it seems that the estimator shows the last week of December is being completed this week. We obviously still have some stragglers. I wonder why USCIS does that? Someone in the November thread was saying they are still waiting too! Why??????

Signature coming soon...

It means that your card is ordered and it's in production stages. You should get your card in about a week. Our card came about three business days from the NOA2 of the EAD/AP. You can apply for jobs anytime. You don't need to wait for EAD/AP card to apply. But you need to wait for it in your hand before jobs will hire you.

I actually think you guys are asking way more of them to process - and I hope you get it sorted soon! - all i want them to do is to include a hyphen, you want to update the whole name sequence and add names!

We are planning on going to Europe for June (my husband gets his sabbatical then, finally, after having applied for it over and over again), so here is hoping this can be sorted within the next two months so I dont have to say, "sorry honey, you are off, but I cant leave the country". That would suck, but hey, first world problems :-D
