Saylin,

I would like you to add the below point in your wiki, so it will be useful for anyone like me in future.

For India, NVC will always expect to send regional passport office, but if we obtained PCC from consulate or District Police station as per their guidelines then in the cover letter we need to mention it clearly. Else it will ended up as a check list.

Obtain Indian Police Clearance Certificates as follows:
- All Indian nationals aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police clearance certificates from the Regional Passport Office.
- Indian passport holders residing outside India should obtain a statement from their local Indian Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, or Deputy High Commission confirming they have no criminal record.
- Non-Indian applicants who reside in India and are Foreigner Regional Registration Ovvice (FRRO) registered should obtain police certificates from the FRRO serving their area of residence.
- Non-Indian applicants who reside in India and are not FRRO registered, such as foreigners holding Overseas Citizen of Indian status, should obtain police clearance certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
- Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants residing outside India.

I rang nvc to see if they'd review my ds261 over the phone. (I'm the beneficiary) they would review mine but not my son's, they said only my husband can request that. Sigh, I'll just have to wait.

This is country-specific, which I don't put in a wiki meant for the GENERAL process. I do mention in the wiki to look at country-specific documents, where this would be listed for Indians on the NVC website.

Hey Saylin could you add a point about Tax Extensions in your Wiki? I had to go all over the internet looking for a solid yes or no to whether i can send tax extensions but didn't really find a clear answer. Most people here on VJ say it's not possible but that's wrong as i got through the NVC with tax extensions for the year 2014 even though my joint sponsor was self employed and had no pay stubs or W-2s.

Shoot, I thought I had a section on tax extensions. I'll make a note to add something about tax extensions in the wiki when I get the chance as I have a couple other things to update as well. Thanks!

Our case complete date was July 20 (saw 3 N/As on 7/21, confirmed by a rep: CC 7/20). Yesterday, I received two emails saying "The U.S. Department of State's online Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center has been utilized to pay the fees associated with the immigrant visa application of XXXXXXXXXXX..." One was for the AOS fee (paid April 9) and the other for the IV fee (paid July 5), but I still haven't received an email/letter stating the case is complete.

Is it normal for it to take 10+ days to receive the CC letter? Should I be worried? I thought it would take a week or less.

This is country-specific, which I don't put in a wiki meant for the GENERAL process. I do mention in the wiki to look at country-specific documents, where this would be listed for Indians on the NVC website.

That i understand, but I want you to keep is, NVC reps are used for one document, even though NVC guideline specify based on our scenario we can get the document from different offices. So when we provide a different document, they issue checklist. But this can be avoided if we mention it clearly in the cover letter.

If you take me as an example, NVC reps used to PCC from Regional Passport office in India, bt as per their guidelines when I sent PCC from District Police station, they issued checklist. Again I happened to explain this to a supervisor, do lots of follow ups to get the case completed. If I hv mention that as per the guideline I am providing PCC from District Police Station, this could have been avoided. Could have save 16days.

Its not county specific, NVC reps are used to one type of document, when we send something else even though they have it in their guidelines they issue checklist. I have seen its happening for many. So only thought if we add this in the NVC where you mention about cover letter, people will be more clear on what they send right?

If you think it will be useful, please add. Else you can ignore. I already created a topic for this, in that I ll keep it updated. So anyone like me get into such situations it will be useful.

Anyone else get a bunch of receipts emailed from the NVC (DS260, IV fee, AOS fee, IV Package, AOS package). I got them all today.....does this mean I should be expecting a CC?
