So our k1 petition was sent to the nvc on April 17th, on may 7th they received our case, and this past Monday they sent it out to the Montreal embassy. They said it would take up to next Monday for them to receive it.

I have tried to check my case online but their system was having issues and they finally resolved it today when I went to check it. Here is my confusion.... This is what I saw post-190288-0-93584200-1431658345_thumb.png

I have not received Packet 3 or 4 from Montreal, I know its usually sent through email.... can I email them Packet 3 and pay my DS160 (?) fee or do I have to wait for them to send me it? I am so anxious to book my interview and if I can do my ds form and book it now I would!

Also is there a more detailed way where I can register my case status online on the NVC site, or is entering the number the only option?

Thanks to anyone in advance who takes the time to answer this! This is all so new to me and moving so fast!!!

Hello,

Congrats on getting closer.....

When I received the letter from NVC with our case number on it I emailed the Embassy, using our case number as subject, and asked that packet 3 and any further correspondence be emailed so as not to have to wait on postal service. They responded within 24 hours of my request and attached K-1 instructions. You can submit the DS-160 as long as you have your case number... I know the instructions are different from country to country but that is step 1 after the NVC letter!!

Hope this helps..... I understand the anxiousness, I just submitted mine a few days ago. So excited to get this next step done!

Good Luck!

Hey there,

I would recommend you to email your embassy and wait for them to send you the instructions because this package contains a list of documents that you will need for the interview. Once you have the package you can create an account online to fill out the DS-160 form. In order to do this you will need your case and invoice number, if you don't have the invoice number you can call the NVC to request it. The consulates are usually pretty fast to reply to emails and it is always adviceable to be sure before doing anything.

Good luck!
