I just got off the phone with NVC and the rep informed me that they are completely done scheduling January interviews. She said they should start scheduling February interviews the first week of January (so January 5-9). Just fyi in case anyone was wondering. I'm happy to have CC and I trust that God's timing is always perfect so if it's going to be February, that's ok with me :)

Best of luck to everyone :)

Thanks for the update was hoping for January interview but did not get my CC early enough. Agree with you about God's timing... It will be always perfect.

BTW they might schedule some interviews on January 2nd.

Guys quick question :

1) For Applying SSN do we need actual plastic green card

2) My wife is in US on CR1...can she start her job search and can she start working before she gets her actual plastic green card

Thanks

I don't totally agree with imse82. You do not need the actual plastic green card to apply for a SSN. This part is true.

But, as soon as your wife has her SSN, she is allowed to work. The visa foil in her passport TOGETHER WITH the stamp from immigration at POE is valid authority for your wife to work. However, many companies do not understand this - thinking that you have to have the plastic green card.

So...once your wife has a Social Security Number, she may look for work. But she needs to be prepared to stand up for her right to work if the company pushes back - thinking she needs the plastic green card.
