A Nebraska school district said it will officially allow firearms in senior yearbook photos -- if the photos are "tasteful and appropriate."

According to an article in the Omaha World Herald, the Broken Bow Public School District policy prohibits photos that include "game shot by the student if the animal is in obvious distress” and portraits where the student is pointing the firearm at the camera.

School board members in the 3,500-person community voted last week to allow the photos. According to the Herald, hunting is a common hobby for high schoolers in the district.

Before the decision, the school district did not have an official policy on senior photos, though it had prevented photos with firearms because of national concerns about school violence.

“The board, I believe, felt they wanted to give students who are involved in those kinds of things the opportunity to take a senior picture with their hobby, with their sport, just like anybody with any other hobby or sport,” Superintendent Mark Sievering told the Herald.

Sounds like a non-story to me.

Some school districts won't allow this. So it's something different.

Why do football (soccer) fans start riots and try to kill each other in some countries? Why do people want to play cricket? Why does the game Netball exist? Different cultures, different interests. It's best to not concern yourself if it isn't affecting you. Or has their been a slew of shootings in Nebraska by kids with huting rifles ?
